Report of the Station Commander

-=Situation Report=-

-=Station Commander to the Joint Allied Powers=-

-=Sky Harbor Aegis C&C, Aegis Shipyard=-

-=Chirakis Kirel, Captain, SI-5=-

Stardate 2387.291

It has now been two months since the crew has moved to temporary quarters at the shipyard. The old station, now derelict and a mere shadow of its former glory, will soon vacate its moorings to make way for the newer. Such is the cycle of birth, death, and, in this case, reconstruction.

When the station arrived a month ago, all interior levels had already been replaced, primary EPS systems were functional, and there was life support on all decks. Aegis’ Engineering Department has already transferred to the new station. They, the RSE Imperial Corps of Engineers, and the Starfleet Corps of Engineers have initiated a four-shift cycle to complete construction as soon as possible. The estimated time of readiness for transferring the entire crew from the shipyard into the new station is two to four weeks.

In answer to your query, Admiral Beckwith, in my estimation the crew has adjusted well to their temporary quarters. Though the shipyard was not meant to house the present volume of personnel, the shipyard has been generous in making accommodation for crew, some families, and the Romulan children under our protection. Their small but adequate arboretum is available to all personnel whenever they require it and they have constructed an exceptional holodeck specifically for our use.

The most resilient personnel, of course, are Romulans, who are used to sparse living conditions and require little in the form of entertainment. On the opposite end of the spectrum, or so I am told by Counselor Davis, are the humans, whose stress levels apparently rise daily.

“The shipyard’s location on a large asteroid is not exactly the best place for a picnic or outing of any kind,” she said, as I recall. “The confined space and sparse living conditions are acceptable for some species - specifically the Romulans who built it - but accommodations are not exactly Five Star for other species. The psychological repercussions among various groups run the gamut from total withdrawal to borderline psychopathic psychoses. Honestly, Captain, I’m not sure we can endure much more of this.”

I suggested that there was one alternative - to move outside onto the asteroid - and that if anyone wished to do so I would facilitate their move immediately. She did not seem to appreciate that suggestion, nor did she appreciate me reminding her that she, herself, is human, and possibly exhibiting the same psychoses she mentioned. Our conversation ended abruptly and I have not seen her since. However, I will take her advice and move the rest of Aegis’ personnel to the station as soon as possible.

Respectfully Submitted,

Chirakis Kirel, Captain, SI-5
