lucky moments

Greetings,

 

         You all probably know me from some places, and on the holodeck :D. you know my e-mail is not stable therefore i had to make some posts about i cannot make it to a advanced sim such as the manticore, but you know what, luck, or what ever itis called, really had mercy on me. For 2 monday nights, i had to post that my absents, but at the last moment star trek.com let me in :D, soo thats probably my luckest moment here, what is yours.

The day I finally got on the holodeck after the screen said, "Someone already is using this username." :D  It ticked me off, but then I had an idea. What if I could fool ST.com into thinking that I wasn't there? So... I turned IE (Internet Explorer) off  and then turned it back on and WHAMMO! I got in.  :D

I threw a Grenade and I was hit by debris because I couldn't make it to the Talon sim so they needed an excuse for me not talking :D

Well on the Aegis they just say "They got a cold" and at some random point of the sim they ask a doc, Hey hows that guys cold doing? We're too cheap to get cardboard and too lazy to think of new reasons, :)

Actually, my luckiest moment in real life did involve a rock.

 

When I was a combat engineer in the US Army my unit had some leftover explosives that we wanted to get rid of.  We didn't want to be stuck with leftover explosives at the end of the year because supply would decrease our explosives budget for next year.  It's wasteful spending but sometimes that's the game your government plays.

 

So one day we went to the demolitions range and just blew stuff up.  The highest ranking person with us was our 2nd Lieutenant, and the trip was his idea, so we didn't even pretend it was training.  We just blew stuff up.

 

Anyway, there was a particularly large rock we decided to blow up.  We planted the explosives, moved to what we thought was a safe distance, and detonated the explosives.  A chunk of the rock broke off and went flying into the air.  My comments to the squad went something like this:

 

"Gee, that rock is climbing pretty high"

::a few seconds pass::

"It almost looks like it's coming right at us."

::a few more seconds::

"HOLY (explative deleted)!!"

 

That darn rock missed my head by about a foot.  At the speed it was moving it would have killed me.  I still have it somewhere.

Luckiest moments...hmm. I dont know honestly. I almost fell off a cliff once, while I was hanging on the side of it. Fortunately my friend was able to grab me before I fell.

 

I dont really believe in luck though, so its hard to think of anything. Never been in a life or death situation either.

That's probably in academy a few weeks ago, with KBear and Blurox.. I had escaped from the ship on a shuttle just before it went over a cliff and into a lake.. I mamaged to save KBear and Precip.. I think in the process.   :P

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS LUCK ?   Or is Luck what we make of it?     :D   Perhaps some dumb luck of mine was when I tuned in to a show with a space theme and first watched a guy called Captain Kirk.  I was exploring the UHF channels.  That was back when antennas were used ... back before the Flood, ya know?   :laugh:
