Winding Down

The warm water of the shower had done much to leech the soreness and tension from Aidan’s body and it had wiped away all outward signs of the ten plus hours spent on the planet below searching for clues in the remains of a starship..a starship that had been destroyed because of orders he had given. But the shower had done little to wash away the emotional turbulence of recent events. He found himself still more than a little angry and annoyed...at the return of memories buried for ten years, the return of those who had caused those memories, the recent fights, and so on. He hated the thought that Mr Drew might have been on the Bird of Prey that he had destroyed and he had been wondering if there had been a way to prevent its destruction. At the same time he recognized that it had been a choice between making sure a threat to the Reaent was neutralized or letting it possibly remain a threat. In that context he would have made the same decision..given the same orders all over again. Aidan was not one to let threats to his ship..his family remain viable..and God help the person or persons that tried harming his wife because Aidan would certainly give no mercy.

As his thoughts focus on Deb he feels more than a little embarrassment at letting his temper surface while on the away team. When they had returned to the ship he had wanted Deb to return to their quarters with him. He had wanted some time alone with her, for her help in banishing the darkness and to help her do the same. She, however, had chosen to go to Sickbay and some small part of Aidan’s mind had been wondering as to the reasons for that decision. He thought it was just her seeing to her job but still....

He sighs and shakes his head. If life hadn’t tossed the Cairo back into their laps he knows what he would have far preferred to have spent the last few hours doing. Which is all he wants to do now, to spend time with his wife, focusing his attention and energies completely on her and let her light and warmth bathe him.

He remains in the shower for a few more minutes. Finally he turns it off and reaches for the towel to dry himself off. As he exits the bathroom he wraps the towel around his waist. Stepping over to their bed he reaches for a pad and writes a note to her. He planned to leave the note along with a dozen roses in her office in Sickbay. Hopefully that will help lift her spirits and the shed light on the darkness this situation must have created for her.
