Byblos

Building a Nest

Building a Nest

Byblos was no bird or sentient avian species that roamed the galaxy. But if he was going to stay awhile aboard this Federation Vessel it was pertinent that he establish his quarters and some sort of life onboard this huge ship.

His first goal was made easy by the Captain, a somewhat enlarged quarters to allow him to move around easily. Despite the brilliance of the Federation Doctor, He still was tender from his surgery he was not in fighting shape. Byblos quickly rearranged the quarters provided for him to accomidate an exercise regimen to get himself back into his normal lethal confident self.

One unexpected glitch was the sleeping bed provided to him. He was just too Tall for it. He commed a repairman..and a Lt Wrench was shown the situation. The human was named after a tool? In any case he was able to construct an extension support for his legs. As for a mattress the engineer was a bit stumped, but he suggested pillows might do the job in bulk. Until they reached Starbase.. Wrench mentioned..they were not going to get anything permanent for him. And besides the engineer correctly pointed out...he wasn't going to be on board long anyways. Right?

Wrench, the human "tool" was also useful in letting him get to work on what was left of his pod quarantined on the flight deck. Byblos disarmed the security devices onboard to accomidate a bio-hazard team to clear the pod of his own dried blood and his personal weapons locker. He still thought it was a miracle he survived seeing all that blood cleaned up.

Over the next few days Byblos worked on transferring personal belongings from the Pod to his quarters. This was accomplished rather quickly, given the crews unwillingness to be in tight with him in the ship's small lifts. Apparently he stank perhaps after working so long.

What amazed while working on the flight deck was the activities of the Federation craft embarked on this large ship known as the Comanche Creek. There were far more than he thought operating from this ship via a very clever means of stacking Spacecraft. The Comanche seemed to have everything from a Tug, Fighters to an Executive Shuttle.

As he salvaged metal from the Hound's Escape Pod for amour purposes. The precise operations of the deck crew handling incoming and outgoing craft impressed him. These were indeed professionals. The Fighters were small, but looked extremely agile, far more agile than anything he knew an Orion Cartel had in it's possession. Combined with the sheer size of the Comanche, a Cartel would be foolish to make a raid on this Vessel with her defenses.

Byblos tried to keep as low profile for a big.."stranger" onboard as he could. He often just took breaks from carving his pod up ; watching how the flight deck operated. He learned some fighters were called Hornets...and others Tomcats. The crew's language involved much slang. He would learn later.

Byblos now knew why this ship could of easily made a mess of the "Maze." And indeed it had, liberating slaves. It would take a joint force of many sub cartels to even think about TO TRY knocking this Comanche out of position, and they possessed nothing that could match the size of her as well.

Byblos got to thinking...as Four Days had passed. What would stop the Comanche---Creek from going into Orion controlled space and delivering a blow to a stubborn adversary to the Black Kris. "The Lady" had made a brilliant play at gaining in ally with this Captain Crash. The question was Byblos figured, if "The Lady" asked the Captain of this vessel to squash more slavers would the Captain oblige? Nothing he thought could stop the Comanche from ruining an out of line Orion Cartel's pathetic fighter force.

At least that is what the "Stranger" thought.
