The Manticore is in the Serengeti sector where the mining ship,

Kumquat and the Daventry research station were attacked and

neutralized by a cloud that we believe to be a nano technology

swarm. We have attempted to destroy them, but our torpedoes

only made the swarm larger, an EMP burst only slowed them for a

few moments and a software "back door" shutdown command

failed. We are now preparing for a much larger EMP, attempting

to communicate with the swarm using non-standard "language"

and, as our last resort, looking for a large star or black hole to

overfeed the swarm.
