"A New Day" - Personal Log

=/\=BEGIN LOG=/\=

Hewitt was downright bawling. He layed down on his bed, and thought of his family - and the tears just wouldn't stop coming. His father... actually alive? No. He couldn't accept that, especially after how long it had been.

His console beeped. Demore didn't want to answer it, but was propelled to get up anyway. He went over, and pressed a button. It was a recorded message.

BEGIN COMMUNIQUE

          Mister Demore:

It has come to our attention that classified information has been exposed to you. A man, posing as your father, attempted to pass Federation secrets to you. His hopes were that, since Aegis is a joint peace station, the secrets would leak out amoung the crew... and eventually to it's intended recipients. [These recipients the secrets were intended to be given too are classified.] It is with honor that we ask you not to expose anything that you have learned, or any assumptions you may have received while in contact with this imposter.

We here at Starfleet know that this may be hard for you, learning that your father may actually be alive. However, this is not the case. To learn about your father's demise, access the Starfleet directories. [Note: Many parts of these directories have been marked as Classified, and you are not able to access them.]

If you have any questions that we may have a possibility of answering for you, please notify Admiral Bland on Starbase 326. He has been fully informed about the situation. The imposter has been taken to Earth, where he will undergo trial for treason.

                                                 Thank you,

                                          Starfleet Command Headquarters

END COMMUNIQUE

Demore read the message over again. He honestly couldn't believe it, and didn't have the emotion to decribe what he was feeling. He console beeped again. This message, for the moment, was even worse.

BEGIN COMMUNIQUE

Commander GromVik has retired his duty as the Chief of Engineering aboard Sky Harbor Aegis.

END COMMUNIQUE

The message was short (very short, actually), but it got the main point across. GromVik was leaving.

Over the past several months aboard Aegis, GromVik had helped him improve his Engineering skills, and had even allowed Demore to try different things, to help improve the Renc Wing. Now he was leaving, and he (once again) couldn't describe his feelings.

His worst fear of all, though, was of his sister. The imposter (or was it? Demore wondered.) said that she was actually alive... and a member of Starfleet! How wonderful this could be, if it were true. But as of now, Demore doesn't know what to believe.

He stopped crying. "That's life," he muttered. Despite being saddened of the events that have recently happened, Demore felt an overall sense of relief. He still questioned his father's reality, but that questioning was beginning to settle.

"A whole new light," he said to himself. It was almost as if he were starting all over. After all, every day was a new one... and they should all be different. Otherwise, what fun is there?

Demore wiped his face, and stepped out into the hallway. With a good feeling inside, he went into the Turbolift. "Ten-Forward," he said.

This would be the first time he had ever visited the bar since his assignment aboard the station, and he was actually looking forward to it.
