Unofficially........

The ride down on the shuttle had given her time to think. Time to think about what had conspired these last few weeks; time to think about the outcome of and consequences of some of her decisions.

Officially, Star Fleet had to put on the face that all had been under control, that their ‘intelligence teams’ had their forces in locations which had ensured that the population of Risa had been safe, and that there had been little true danger to their citizens and guests. In reality, it had been pure luck that her crew had been there as part of their 'training exercise' and that she had actually informed Admiral Calvert about it after she had already started the exercise. But what made the difference was that her crew, in their observations, thinking and problem solving skills, had been able to put together the pieces that something was wrong and had moved to take what actions they could before the rest of the team had arrived to assist.

Unofficially, she had gotten called on the carpet and given an earful by the Admiral's Council. Unofficially; what a lovely term that was. Only she knew about it on the ship so far. She hadn’t even had time to sit down and decide if she wanted to fill Rian in on the whole thing, yet she supposed she really should when she got a chance.

Yes, she had been reprimanded for sending her crew in undercover into an area that Fleet had made assurances with the local government that they would never set foot on or endanger relations between Risa. Luckily for the Republic though, Admiral Calvert had also testified that he had seen that Republic was the only ship close enough to handle this security issue and had granted the ship leave to move in. His testimony wasn’t popular to be sure, but it had helped her tremendously.

However she knew the real reason the quiet fuss was being made back at headquarters; her superiors didn’t want to endanger their own privileges on the pleasure planet, and for that, she wasn’t sorry. Each time her crew had been there, yes, they had raised a ruckus….but they had also each time, stopped a serious to catastrophic event. She was getting tired of her crew doing the Fleets dirty work, and then getting blamed for crap. Granted, some of the earlier transgressions had been forgiven after Fleet had come in and helped drive off the Dominion forces that had broken through the wormhole during the war, but still the ban on the Republic had remained.

Until now that was.

But be it as it may, if she felt her crew deserved a break, she'd damned well see that they got it, and the blazes with anyone that saw it differently.

They finally had to relent this time in light of the situation. Only the most senior of the Risan government had truly been made aware of what had transpired, but it was enough and they had made a resolution that in light of past services to the planet, that all had been forgiven and that the Republic crew was once again welcome on Risa.

Unofficially, she was ordered to make sure that any stops there were few and far between. She was to make sure that if they did take leave there, that stringent orders were given to maintain the utmost in professional behavior, and that the number of those allowed down on planet be restricted to small numbers, or that those given leave were rotated in short shifts between the planet and ship.

She was aware that David and Christina were saying something to her, so she shook herself from her thoughts and responded to them. She just really wasn’t comfortable having to make small talk in a shuttle. She much preferred the quiet of her own small ship, but wanted to afford them the courtesy each of the crew deserved from her to pay attention to their questions and conversations.

She was starting to have a bad feeling about this……….
