“So, you understand Chief?” Audraya stood in the Scheduling office, eyeballing ABSC

Muldowski¹, as she set her flight plan and shuttle request on his desk.

 

“You want me to bury this,” he said motioning to the two data slates, “so far under scheduled

maintenance and training flights that it looks like it got lost and you’ve gone AWOL again?

Jeezus, Commander, you’re gonna get me into hot water when, not if, when the Captain finds

out. I haven’t done 25 years in Starfleet just to lose my retirement...”

 

“Don’t worry about it Chief. If Crash makes a huge stink about it, I’ll take the hit. Besides, we

need some time to recover from the mental traumas inflicted on us one right after the other.”

 

“‘We’ and ‘us’, Commander? You taking Lt. Kvar down with you?” Muldowski shook his head at

Audraya’s nod. “Ma’am, I’m gonna have to let the LSO² in on this as well.”

 

“The less people who know about this, Bosun, the better.”

 

“Understood ma’am.” Rotating around so he could look at the small craft spotting board behind

his desk, Muldowski added “Take that loaner we got from the Enterprise--the Galileo. Its right

up near the shuttlebay doors, so you’ll have easy out. And I won’t have to have the deckhands

spot it for no apparent reason. When are you planning to launch?”

 

Audraya had an impish grin on her face when Muldowski spun back around. “Thanks a lot

Chief. This afternoon, when Lt. Kvar finishes her shift on the bridge. Oh, and if you could get

some supplies loaded, that’d be great.”

 

“I’ll see what I can do, ma’am. Have fun,” he said as the XO left his office.

 

“I love it when a plan starts to come together,” she said, heading for the lift.

Tifa Kvar -> ::Steps in, wearing her civie clothes, carrying a bag.::

STSF_Scooter -> ::closes her suitcase:: All set?

Tifa Kvar -> ::Nods:: I sure am. Although...you never did tell me where we were going.

STSF_Scooter -> Its...a secret.

Tifa Kvar -> ::Grins.:: Oh really?

STSF_Scooter -> Really.

Tifa Kvar -> Aw..

STSF_Scooter -> ::pulls Tifa into a hug and kisses her::

STSF_Scooter -> (w) You'll like this surprise

Tifa Kvar -> ::Returns the affection.:: I better. ::Sly smirk.::

STSF_Scooter -> Oh you will.

STSF_Scooter -> ::grabs her bag:: Follow me. ::winks::

Tifa Kvar -> ::Follows right behind.::

STSF_Scooter -> ::enters the nearest lift...::

STSF_Scooter -> ::flips open her comm:: -=Muldowski=- Chief, are we all set?

STSF_Scooter -> Muldowski> -=Scooter=- Affirmative, ma'am. Still don't feel right though

STSF_Scooter -> -=Muldowski=- So noted, Chief.

Tifa Kvar -> ::Looks at Scooter a little puzzed with her conversation.::

STSF_Scooter -> ::smiles:: I'm gonna owe Bosun Muldowski a case of saurian brandy after this,

but its worth it.

STSF_Scooter -> ::lift slows, and doors open on the hangar deck::

STSF_Scooter -> Muldowski> ::walks up to Scooter and Tifa:: Shuttle's ready. LSO's got

launch approval from flight ops and New Topeka Control.

STSF_Scooter -> ::walks over to the shuttle:: I'm surprised that Enterprise never picked up

it up after we parted ways.

STSF_Scooter -> ::opens the hatch to the Galileo::

Tifa Kvar -> ::A little surprised.:: I had forgotten we had this.

STSF_Scooter -> ::shrugs:: Wunderkind's loss, our gain.

STSF_Scooter -> ::slips into the pilot's seat, and begins warming it up::

Tifa Kvar -> ::Gets in and sets her stuff down before sitting next to Scooter.::

STSF_Scooter -> ::...and launches the Galileo

STSF_Scooter -> ::clears the marker buoy, and engages the warp drive::

STSF_Scooter -> I feel sorry for those who aren't leaving the area

STSF_Scooter -> ::keeps the destination blanked out, but sets the autopilot::

Tifa Kvar -> ::Watching the stars through the cockpit.::

STSF_Scooter -> Credit for your thoughts? ::grins::

Tifa Kvar -> ::Smiles.:: Nothing really. Just looking out at the pretty stars, wondering where we

are going.

STSF_Scooter -> Away, for a nice little getaway

Tifa Kvar -> I do like getting away.

STSF_Scooter -> As do I

STSF_Scooter -> Besides, *we* need this time together.

STSF_Scooter -> No starships

STSF_Scooter -> No family on vengence quests

Tifa Kvar -> Sounds absolutely wonderful.

Tifa Kvar -> I wonder what kind of trouble the others are going to get into while on leave.

STSF_Scooter -> Probably the usual. Sunny and Silver are probably off tossing a bar

somewhere

STSF_Scooter -> Crash...well, she gets into enough trouble on her

1 ABSC- Senior Chief Aviation Boatswain’s Mate, E-8. A senior enlisted position, usually involved in

administration and leadership of the lower ranks, and “mentoring” of junior officers. Aviation Bosun’s

Mates are involved with launch and recovery gear, and spotting of aircraft on the deck.

2 LSO- Landing Signal Officer. In US Navy parlance, the aviator stationed on the fantail of an aircraft

carrier, in charge of assisting with the landing of aircraft, by use of radio and lights. In Starfleet parlance,

would probably also double as the launching officer.

Bosun Muldowski belongs to Stephen Coonts, I’m just co-opting him into the 23rd Century.
