Sim-time for European members

34 posts in this topic

Greetings,

facing the fact that startrek is famous worldwide I believe that there are also many members from europe who want to play the STSF-Sim at a time when they are awake

(10pm Eastern time means for me 4 am in the morning)

dude, a later time means that a few GM's will have to spend a lot of time to start and maintain one, no easy job. Bit by bit though i think there will be more sims at more times as stsf grows, until then, hang in there cos i feel your pain!   :)

And stuff. But seriously, I can see how the people who are hemped up on caffeine or are night people or are in different parts of the world would apreciate a later night sim.

It is true that it is difficult to find GM's who are free to work at an afternoon or morning time slot, however, if we have enough interest in it, we'll certainly do our best to find someone.  As a follower of the IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) philosophy, I am always willing to entertain new possibilities.

Greetings, Dude!

How about working it the other way around?  Rather than having a sim way-early in the AM for people in the Eastern Time Zone in the US, look at the best time for simming in London (or another place) and work backwards?  For instance, at 8PM London time it's 3PM ET in New York.  9PM London time would be 4PM in New York. 3 or 4 PM might not be too bad a time to have a sim.

What zone are you in, Dude? What would be a good time for you to sim - let us know.  Of course, it will take quite a while to organize something like this -- maybe as long as a year -- but eventually I can see the possibilities.

In the meantime, tell all your friends to log on and post!

Keep on Trekkin!

Jami

Hi Jami,

I'm 6 hrs ahead of New York I think my time zone is GMT+1

so it'll be good if there'd be a sim at lets say 3 or 4 pm EasternTime, but not later than 5pm Eastern time

hmmm i have thought that it perhaps might be a good idea if we were to search out some english speaking forums in other parts of the world and perhaps join forces, just as we have brought single ships into the fold, would a forum merger be groovy?

Well, with a forum merger, you would lose the special sense of community that you have with STSF as we would be attempting to merge two different groups that would prefer to keep their individuality.

What is more likely (although no time very soon) would be to get someone from Europe or the Orient up to speed in STSF and get a GM there.  Then again, we'd need two GMs and the interest from those parts of the world by enough folks to make up a crew.  Definitely possible - but definitely not going to happen in the next few months.  Sorry.

Hey there,

Hostile takeover? I wouldn't count on it. :)

STSF has a very unique sense of community you find lacking in many organizations. While we, as a group, will continue to expand...it isn't something that'll happen overnight. There are a lot of concerns and variables that come into play when looking at expansion. It will happen, yes. However, it will take a very long time. :D

So, perhaps by the year 2025, you'll have sims operating in every timezone on the globe. :)

I like our small community where everyone knows eachother and if we get like millions of people all that will change. Well by the time that will happen I'll be an old man like A9 :) jk

Yeah 2025 my foot it'll proberbly be something like 2999.

As if a site like this could be done by 2025 we might be hit by an astroid by 2020.
