Into Darkness, huh? Sounds hard core.

 

Star Trek Into Darkness is an upcoming 2013 science fiction action film, the twelfth in the Star Trek film series, and the sequel to 2009's Star Trek. The film is directed by J. J. Abrams, and produced by Abrams, Bryan Burk, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof and Roberto Orci. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and John Cho return to reprise their roles from the previous film. It is set to be released on May 17, 2013.

Cool title. Question is, what villian is going to be featured? I've read two possibilities, Kahn, and Garry Mitchell. I'd like to see Kirk go against Garry Mitchell. But, it does sound like it's going to be a must see movie.

Kahn would be a mistake. It would mean the new writers have run out of ideas already.

Choice between Kahn or Gary Mitchell? I'd like to see Mitchell get the big screen time. Gary M was introduced & (quickly) killed off, compared with the full episode & movie devoted to Kahn.

 

There's more story arc potential/freedom with Mitchell, but that's MO.

@ CDR Wesley: in a way, Operation Annihilate is a 'Pre-Alien' concept? You had these flying pancake ('60's effects) things that went all parasite, minus that chest bursting thing.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing a retread of the episode - though the New TOS comics just did one - or New TOS could branch off into completely original/different adventures.
