Sky Harbor Aegis | Season 18

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 17 August 2012

(22 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.112)

=Begin Season 18=

At the close of Season 17, we find reason to question the validity of our explorations and, after reviewing data and comments from all departments, we decide to take a more cautious approach. USS Missouri has closed ranks with Aegean and Revenge and is now an overt defensive presence.

After a command video conference, we realize that our concerns for ultimate caution during exploration of the next world are justified. Though data from the exploded planet, Maasune, gives no conclusive answer, evidence suggests that the planet was inhabited at some time in the recent past. We also suspect that the artificial structure inside the crater may have been some kind of weapon, and that the explosion of the planet may have been intentional, IE:

  • fighters and ships were targeted before the explosion
  • caves below the surface indicate there may have been habitation at some time
  • high levels of radiation
  • rival Romulan factions may want to prevent relocation

Add to those circumstances the conspicuous absence of the command staff from Sky Harbor Aegis and a series of random suspicious communications originating in the vicinity of the station, and the need for caution becomes more evident.

As Season 18 begins, we are in orbit of Ankami Prime, the 3rd planet in the Ankami System.

TBS was one hour.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 31 August 2012

(22 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.112)

Aegean, Revenge, and USS Missouri are orbiting Ankami Prime, the third planet in the Ankami System. An away team from Aegean is exploring the planet from the ground; fighters from Revenge are in atmospheric reconnaissance using Tactical Air Reconnaissance Pod Systems and research survey pods. USS Missouri is in high orbit overwatch.

While this seems the most promising planet for Romulan resettlement, it is 10 light years from Aegis, on the edge of the sector and bordering on unexplored territory. Its mean temperature of 15C (59F) gave the away team a chance to break out their winter garb.

TBS was 20 minutes.

USS Missouri is in high orbit overwatch.

Though the planet is 10 light years from Aegis, it still remains the most promising planet for relocation of a number of ch’Rihan refugees. Many of the crew, including the command staff, have availed themselves of a visit planetside, mixing business with pleasure.

The strange random subspace messages continue to drift through subspace from Aegis.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 14 September 2012

(22 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.112)

Aegean, Revenge, and USS Missouri are orbiting Ankami Prime, the third planet in the Ankami System. All have returned from planetary exploration, bringing with them the data collected. We remain in orbit to examine the same area of the planet during its night cycle.

On Revenge, the Commodore and Captains Roberts and Ramson have discussed the series of random communications received through subspace. They appear to have their origins on Aegis, but because Aegis is a relay point for our location, they could come from anywhere. Captain Ramson intimated that updates to Aegean’s navigational systems may be an unwanted data push. Nothing concrete has been established at this time.

USS Iowa, the second Akira refit to join the Border Patrol, has been summoned from its shakedown cruise. It will join USS Missouri as backup, ETA unknown. At present we are 4 days from Aegis at warp 7.

TBS was 2 hours.

At sim begin we will still be in orbit of Ankami Prime, investigating planet’s night cycle.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 21 September 2012

(22 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.112)

TBS was 12 hours.

Having finished data collection on the night cycle of Ankami Prime, Aegean, Revenge, and USS Missouri are preparing to return to Aegis. Departure will take place at sim begin.

Commodore Chirakis has called a meeting of pertinent personnel (those who investigated the planet) so a full evaluation will be available for her report to the Romulan High Command.

At present we are 4 days from Aegis at warp 7.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 28 September 2012

(25 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.115)

The time elapsed in sim was 12 hours (yes, it was a long meeting).

Aegean, Revenge, and USS Missouri have begun the trip to Aegis, ETA 3 days, 12 hours.

TBS was 2 days. At sim begin we will be approximately 36 hours from Aegis.

Commodore Chirakis has received reports from all departments. The planets Maasume and Ankami Prime seem to be the best choices among those explored. It was also noted that food and drink during staff meetings would encourage participation. She has taken that under advisement, realizing that the type of food and drink was not specified.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 5 October 2012

(25 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.115)

After a “test” of ships’ engine capabilities (read: drag race back to Aegis) Commodore Chirakis declares a draw between Aegean and Revenge, each ship having matched the other in speed and maneuverability.

At the end of their “test run” we received an encoded distress call from SubCommander Jorahl on Aegis informing us that the station was in imminent danger of hostile takeover.

TBS was a few minutes. We are holding position just inside communications range of Aegis. Command is about to verify the authenticity of the distress call, after which we will plan our strategy.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 12 October 2012

(25 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.115)

Sky Harbor Aegis has been seized by a group of renegade Romulans, their leader known only as Kev’nen.

SubCommander Jorahl, who was in temporary command of Aegis, has been assassinated in full view of the crew, but not before giving us temporary access to Aegis’s computer systems and giving us information valuable to our assault.

Revenge, USS Missouri, and Aegean under cloak are making best speed to Aegis. Aegean will pass Aegis and beam assault teams into strategic areas to retake the station.

The enemy has five Warbirds at its command: one is docked, two are in orbit, and two are unaccounted for but presumed to be cloaked and cruising the asteroid field.

The shipyard is intact and has been evacuated. Loyal officers are ready to help us retake the station. The defense grid has been disabled.

TBS was 4 hours.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 12 October 2012

(25 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.115)

Revenge, Aegean, and USS Missouri are engaged in a full-scale attack to retake control of Sky Harbor Aegis from the Romulan renegade Kev’nen.

Three assault teams have beamed into strategic areas of the station. All have been issued transport scramblers in case the renegades have control of internal transporters. Beam-in was possible but beam-out is not possible.

Team One:

JoNs, Lawliet, Jyliene: upper decks of pylon B, to descend and take control of the CT

Team Two:

Harada and Leilani: control of the main power core

Team Three:

Chirakis and tr’Korjata: Pylon A just below main engineering, ascending to a strategic junction.

No TBS.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 26 October 2012

(26 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.116)

In a joint effort of Romulans loyal to the Empire, Starfleet personnel still aboard the station, and the returning crew of Sky Harbor Aegis, the station has been recovered from Romulan renegade insurgent hands.

In a short-lived battle, Aegean, Revenge, USS Missouri, and USS Iowa inflicted considerable damage on the renegade warbirds. Having sustained considerable damage in the battle, Revenge withdrew toward the shipyard while its crew joined the fight on the station.

Upon taking heavy fire from ships in the area, the docked warbird ripped free of the station and entered Breen subspace, taking part of the docking pylon with it.

At present, the shipyard and the defense grid are still offline.

TBS was 12 hours.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 2 November 2012

(26 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.116)

Though Aegis is secure in allied hands, the renegades did as much damage to the station as possible before escaping into Breen subspace. Aegis crew have their hands full with cleanup and repairs.

SubCommander Jorahl is brought to Aegis sick bay by shuttle from the transport midway point. After being assured that the station was secure, he said, “Grid unit 138.” Commander Brown is presently working to clear the comm buffer so the defense grid can be brought back online. A breach caused by a departing renegade warbird has been contained but remains a threat to stability.

Medical is overwhelmed with dead and injured. Security is stretched thin as they clear the station of renegades and other potential threats, separate friend from foe, guard the prisoners, and monitor the injured.

TBS was one hour.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 9 November 2012

(26 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.116)

TBS was 12 hours. Some have rested, others have not, though most of the crew is fast approaching exhaustion from cleanup and repairs.

As if Security Chief SubCommander tr’Jeth Dabi didn’t have enough to do, security monitors detected a possible breach when Ensign Lawliet attempted to reprogram a medical systems access point. Engineering continues to work on restoration of the defense grid and the station’s structural integrity.

SubCommander Jorahl and Ensign Lawliet remain in sick bay.

Rumors abound as to the exact nature and purpose of the station takeover. Allies are beginning to blame each other for allowing it, and SubCommander tr’Jeth Dabi seems to be a convenient scapegoat.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 16 November 2012

(26 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.116)

TBS was 2 hours.

Ensign Lawliet is under arrest on suspicion of sabotage and terrorism after attempting to reprogram a medical systems access point and then attacking the Chief of Security. The situation involving him and SubCommander tr'Jeth Dabi has been resolved with Ensign Lawliet placed under heavy security in seclusion in sick bay where his every move can be monitored from a physical and medical standpoint.

Work on restoration of the defense grid and the station's structural integrity continues. It will be some time before the station returns to normalcy. Progress is slow but steady.

Rumors abound and grow more elaborate as to the exact nature and purpose of the station takeover and those who have heard of the ruckus in sick bay have added that to the mix. The allies are beginning to blame each other for allowing the takeover, and SubCommander tr'Jeth Dabi seems to be a convenient scapegoat.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 30 November 2012

(26 April 2387 | Stardate 2387.116)

This week is award and promotion week. Please do be prompt; we have many awards and two promotions.

TBS was 12 hours.

We welcome Commander Coleridge and Counselor Davis back to the game.

Ensign Lawliet is under arrest on suspicion of sabotage and terrorism, and for assaulting a superior officer. He remains in sick bay in a confinement field under heavy guard. Hopefully Counselor Davis and Dr. Pavilion will be able to help him control what he calls “the parts of the Nexus he brings with him.”

Progress is slow but steady in station repair. The Revenge is at the shipyard for repairs, estimated time for repair 6 to 8 weeks. USS Iowa and USS Missouri will remain in the area until Revenge is repaired.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 7 December 2012

(3 May 2387 | Stardate 2387.123)

TBS was 1 week.

In that time, Captain Chirakis has been working to encourage personnel to return to the area. The miner, Nero, and his associates have helped considerably in that regard. A message has been sent to pertinent personnel among the allied powers to facilitate shipment of supplies so the station, damaged ships (especially the Revenge) and the shipyard can be repaired quickly and efficiently.

Ltjg Lawliet, in the custody of Chief of Security tr'Jeth Dabi, is under arrest for suspicion of sabotage, suspicion of terrorism, and assaulting a superior officer. He has been moved, with the permission of Captain Chirakis and under the watchful eye of Dr. Pavilion, to a cell in the security complex.

Bits and pieces of information taken from remnants of the renegade Romulan warship's computer data files have been passed to Mr. Roberts for analysis. If evidence warrants, they will also be passed to security and science on the station.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 14 December 2012

(10 May 2387 | Stardate 2387.133)

TBS was 1 week.

SubCommander Jorahl has resumed light duty, tackling padds and requisitions from his quarters.

LtCdr Ramson has been assisting engineering with station repairs. The main structure of the docking pod has been assembled. Fighter and shuttle crews are now positioning sections that were damaged when the warbird was destroyed.

While his crew examines pieces of the renegade warbird’s computer, Mr. Roberts takes a Wraith fighter to examine the remains of the warbird at close range. Revenge, still heavily damaged, remains in dry dock.

Ltjg Lawliet remains in custody for suspicion of sabotage, suspicion of terrorism, and assaulting a superior officer.

With the help of the miner, Nero, civilian traders and workers are now comfortable enough to return to the sector; commerce and supply shipments are becoming more regular.

Dr. Pavilion requested the following from Captain Chirakis:

  • all crew members to report to sickbay once the repairs are complete;
  • all personnel will receive medical training;
  • equipment in sickbay will be upgraded to the standards of the Revenge;
  • medical personnel will be current hand-to-hand, hand phaser and phaser rifle training.
  • Dr. Pavilion requests command training

TBS was 1 week.

The docking pod is in place. Another week and it should be ready.

Dr. Lepage has returned, but the nature of his business here is still to be revealed.

Lawliet remains in custody as the charges against him are investigated.

We now have full specifications for the Wraith fighters Mr. Roberts has aboard Revenge, which means we also have Aegis fighter pilots drooling instead of begging to play with the new toys.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 28 December 2012

(31 May 2387 | Stardate 2387.154)

[date correction made]

TBS was 1 week.

The captain is glad to have a counselor aboard, as Mr. Coleridge has created Captain Lolcat "im in ur CT, watchun ur thingz,” Dr. Feretti has finally acknowledged that her Google-fu isn’t what it used to be, and Mr. Roberts has been whistling Sleigh Ride in May. In space.

On a more serious note, Mr. Roberts reports that, from what he could tell by the debris, the destroyed renegade warbird was “not a typical D'Deridex, but a Valdore, usually assigned to trusted captains and crews by Fleet command.” He and the captain are using more clandestine contacts to investigate.

While medical caught up on crew physicals, SubCommander tr’Jeth Dabi seemed to want to add to their workload by ordering Lt Harada to interrogate “anyone who has challenged the authority of the station, anyone caught on video doing anything suspicious, anyone attempting to access systems they are unauthorized for. Do it. We are going to pull every criminal, spy, and suspect out and nail them without fail so we can lower the heightened level of security if we know everyone is clear.”

Concerned about his CAG responsibilities, Lt Harada increased his own duties by telling the security chief that [paraphrased] ‘Jen's still supposed to be on his wing, the RIO-positions are not documented properly, there's no mention of Nike Wing nor proper linking programs for joint-strike operations, Revenge just got those damn fine craft and Aegis will be doing the best they can to prove space superiority because we wouldn't want some two-bit raider flyboys to outmatch them due to some shiny new toys....’

Ah, yes. Situation normal on Sky Harbor Aegis.

In Engineering, the damaged docking pod is in place, status still to be determined. Cdr Coleridge and SubCent tr'Korjata are working on the Romulan shuttle cloak.

In Medical: Dr. Pavilion is bringing crew physicals up to date, Dr. Davis is reviewing psychological profiles, and Dr. Lepage is preparing for a trip to Portas V.

In Science, Dr. Feretti is investigating the remains of the destroyed warbird for evidence of Starfleet involvement and Mr. Roberts' slicers are poking into the pieces of computer data from the same ship.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 11 January 2013

(10 June 2387 | Stardate 2387.162)

TBS was 3 days.

Investigation into the possibility of Starfleet involvement with the renegade takeover of Aegis continues. That they used a Valdore class warbird seems to point in that direction. However, there are many avenues other than Starfleet through which they could have obtained the vessel, the black market and downright theft being two.

As both science and Mr. Roberts' slicers dig into the pieces of data left from the destroyed Valdore, a somewhat alarming bit is found that seems to indicate a more organized group of renegades who may have operated from a base that may be, in the words of Mr. Roberts, “Close enough [to Aegis] for reinforcements, but not someplace so obvious that it screams, 'Here we are.'"

At the moment the above is all supposition, yet the questions remain:

  • What was the renegades' actual intent when they seized the station?
  • How organized are they?
  • Will they return with a more formidable arsenal?
  • Are they backed by a group in Starfleet?
  • If not, are they backed by other groups such as cartels or a few renegade Ferengi who may have been ousted during the recent government purge? And whatever happened to the Tjurakh anyway?

While Aegis' personnel hunt for answers using ordinary means, Captain Chirakis and Mr. Roberts resort to the extraordinary, looking to their Starfleet contacts as well as their more questionable acquaintances.

Having traced DNA from the warbird debris to a Rihan maintenance worker named Raddik tr'Markov, security scrambles to find him. He's missing, and so is a shuttle. However, his quarters yield a good deal of information including a Rihan device that is presently being analyzed by SubCommander Jorahl.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 8 February 2013

(11 June 2387 | Stardate 2387.163)

Cdr Feretti and Ltjg Lawliet's investigation into the warbird's debris and SubCommander Jorahl's investigation into the information left by the Rihan "maintenance worker" Raddik tr'Markov are interrupted by a group of Klingons bent on destroying the Midway. The ensuing free-for-all keeps SubCommander tr'Jeth Dabi and his security department, the crew of Revenge, and everyone else available very busy. Mr. Roberts gets a hand in the action while Captain Chirakis directs from the periphery.

During the melee, SubCenturion tr'Korjata saves a child by stepping in front of a knife, keeping Drs Pavilion and Schawnsee busy and interrupting the concentration of our resident El Aurian.

Meanwhile, in the Control Tower, Ltjg Jylliene and Cdr Brown enjoy the show, though Jylliene runs out of popcorn.

On an important note, a device similar to the one found in Raddick tr'Markov's quarters is found on a bunch of Klingon thugs who started a ruckus on the midway. With science and medical still working on the debris, perhaps the devices found with the saboteur and the Klingon can put the missing pieces together.

TBS was 24 hours.

Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis | 15 February 2013

(13 June 2387 | Stardate 2387.165)

The device found on the Klingons who trashed the midway contains data that complements the data found on the device in the Rihan renegade Raddik tr'Markov's quarters. The ship they may have used has no markings and the sector entry vectors merge with the data found on the devices. They all point to Mist Station Three, a flanking base for a Romulan invasion force of Federation space, built and abandoned a century ago.

Security interrogates the Klingons and investigates the Klingon starship. It is obvious from their faked House insignia that they are working outside the Klingon Empire, but for whom and for what purpose?

Medical is planning to create and maintain an orphanage.

Dr. Feretti and Lawliet are compiling a report detailing where the planted debris was found, the ship from which it was originally taken, and the test results of the DNA gathered from it, to hopefully track down the renegades. One more piece of the puzzle.

TBS was 2 days.
