The Writing Process

Zertz had some time before his shift started and hurried to check his messages, hoping to hear back about some things pertaining to his holonovel. He read down the list:

Unread: The Manitoba Journal of Engineering

Unread: Re: Narratives Inquiry, Honshu Holographic Society

Unread: Request Denied, Romulan Senate

Zertz sighed, he had politely asked for holographic details on one of the rooms in the Romulan Senate, oh well, he didn’t expect that to go through though. “There goes ‘Masquerade’ Perhaps Midshipman Brex could come up with something interesting to fit in that spot. The Finale will still work though, just a few minor alterations.” Julian made some notes on his padd and sorted out the plot in his head while making his way to the hololab.

“Computer, run holo-program Zeta-1, authorization Lambda Pi Yummy. Chapter 1.” The surroundings changed to a Federation influenced independent colony. The buildings were grayish and many different species walks about doing their daily routine. He makes his way into the local cantina and looks around, looked like a wretched hide of scum and villainy. A Bolian and two Andorians are arguing in the corner, things grow violent as the Andorians draw their weapons, security is no where to be seen. The tension could be cut with a knife, too bad the cook wasn’t here. Julian rushes the Andorians, disarming the first, and subduing the second. The struggle becomes a full on bar fight!  Our holo-novel hero attempts to slink away, but to no avail, a rather burly human male jumps him! Block, block, strike! His ship is within sight through the door, never has Julian run so fast from a bar. But before he could make it into his ship, three menacing  Ferengi greet him, “I have a proposition for you…”

The Computer interrupts, “Your duty shift starts in 10 minutes.” Saving and exiting, Julian makes his way to another day in reality.
