"That Unprofitable Saying."

       THAT UNPROFITABLE SAYING

               An Ambassador Drankum

                  Profitable Production

           Copyright © 2003, Drankum Inc.

   Drankum reviewed his desk and felt a headache coming on. The Ferengi's patience for paperwork had been diminishing in recent years, regardless if it showed a profit or not. Glancing around his suite, he poured himself a glass of a purple colored liquid. Glancing at the substance, he examined it for a few moments and consumed it. "2350...no...2348. They didn't have that berry in production in 2350...," he said softly.

   His concentration with the glass was interrupted by a page from the computer, "You've got mail." Drankum frowned and looked at the computer, "You would think after all this time some humon would have the brains to update that damn unprofitable saying!" After his momentary anger has passed, the Ambassador glanced at the message and groaned. "I'm getting too old for this...," he muttered.

  Several minutes later, he computer began recording....

"Dear Lieutenant Muon Quark of Sky Harbor Aegis' security department, representing Ensign Mogg of Sky Harbor Aegis' operations department;

  Given what limited knowledge I have plundered regarding Ensign Mogg's situation, I am uncertain if any assistance by even Grand Nagus Gint should he have a profitable second coming. It his clear to me, my clothed female, that your client's exposure to humon values resulted in forgetting Rule of Aqusition #218. Since I question if your memory is as valid as it should be, and that you are a female, I remind you that it states "Always know what you're buying." Apparently, Mr. Mogg didn't know what he was buying into when he spoke.

 While Rule of Aquisition #13 is a valid arguement for a young Ferengi, I am not young my dear female. As the humons say, I have been around the galaxy a few times. Such an argument will not work with this old diplomat. To this end, I shall point you to the Rule of Aquisition which was founded in part due to my historical exploits....that would be #104. "Faith moves mountains of inventory" may also be applied to your situation.

 As my schedule, current contracts and other obligations, prevent me from assisting as a part of your Mogg Legal Defense Fund, should you desire a witness to plunder those of the court as a witness, I shall make what efforts I can do assist.

Signed,

  Drankum

  Senior Ambassador

  Cardassia Sector, Ferengi Alliance"
