USS Excalibur

Cptn Swain -> MISSION BRIEF: Excalibur has been tasked with escorting Dr. Edward Svejk to a planet in the Latene Cluster where the USS Augustine is conducting a survey of the planet, but hasn't reported in during the last week. Dr. Svejk has arrived, and is settling in his quarters after a long journey. Excalibur is making final preparations to depart.

Cptn Swain -> Questions?

Taryn Castell -> What sort of doctor is he?

Taryn Castell -> Like a real, medical one, or a fake brain twisting one?

Maryse Dubois -> hehe

Cptn Swain -> He's a bioethicist. Which is about all anyone would have been able to get out of his bio on the database.

Rue Wydown -> Like a science type?

T'Prehl -> Ooh

Cptn Swain -> Alrighty...

Taryn Castell -> So, not a real one, then.

Cptn Swain -> Anything else?

Cptn Swain -> BEGIN SIM

Cptn Swain -> BEGIN SIM

Cptn Swain -> BEGIN SIM

Fae -> :: At Hops, nudging systems towards good to go. ::

Cptn Swain -> ::On the bridge, trying his best not to be 'grumpy.'::

Tandaris Admiran -> ((And doctors _are_ real scientists? :P))

Maryse Dubois -> ((Only if you want us to take care of you the next time you are dying.))

Cptn Swain -> Status report?

Fae -> Getting there, Captain. We could push off right quick if we had too.

T'Prehl -> ::at the Science console on the bridge, reading up on info about the planet::

Maryse Dubois -> ::Is in sickbay, walking around checking on her staff.::

Rue Wydown -> Ms Waters, we didn't tart up the new guest's quarters, did we?

Cptn Swain -> ::Smiles:: I don't think that will be really needed, but appreciated none the less.

Fae -> Nooo. I didn't think I was in charge of Tarts. Isn't that handled by the same person who does scones?

Taryn Castell -> ::Also in sickbay, being checked on. As they'd taken on more stores when they were at the space station, there was plenty for Taryn to categorize and stock.::

Fae -> Room should be ready, but I didn't see to mints on the pillows.

Cptn Swain -> ::Glances to T'Prehl:: I managed to get some of the reports from the Augustine sent over from Camelot.

Karl A. Schultz -> :: enters the stellar cartography room

Maryse Dubois -> ::Stepping over to Taryn.:: So, how was the rest of your evening?

Cptn Swain -> I'd like science to look through them and see if there's anything interesting or worthy of note. I am not the suspicious type, especially with that ion storm still floating about -- but I'd rather not walk into this blind, eh?

Charlotte Matsumura -> ::in main security, at the watch desk, checking on the log and seeing what has occurred while she's been on liberty::

Taryn Castell -> What I remember of it, you mean? ::She grinned at Maryse.:: Don't worry. I didn't get in any trouble on the station, so no brig time yet.

Rue Wydown -> Mints on the pillow. Hmmm..

Fae -> I mean, he isn't an admiral or a ambassador or anything like that, is he? He can shimmer in his own mints?

Maryse Dubois -> ::Smiles.:: Well that's reassuring.

Taryn Castell -> How did you fare? Anything exciting to tell?

Charlotte Matsumura -> ::noting that there were only two arrests for indecent exposure...:: <m> Better than last time.

Maryse Dubois -> Not really. After our little trip to the Grail, I relaxed the rest of the evening. Anything exciting on your end?

T'Prehl -> I have not found anything unusual about the reports. The Latene Cluster is relatively isolated and sparsely populated and previous Dominon survey missions did not return anything of significance.

Karl A. Schultz -> :: steps upto the console and gets the basic facts about the Latene Cluster

Rue Wydown -> ::chuckles:: Hospitality. It's hospitality. ::heading to the turobolift:: I'm going to go down and check on our Engineers...make sure they haven't created some sort of killer lobster while on leave.

Cptn Swain -> ::Nods:: Keep looking though. As I said I'd rather not walk into something.

Cptn Swain -> ::Looks at Wydown::

Cptn Swain -> He's done that before?

Fae -> Get ready to fly, first. Hospitality second?

Fae -> And does our guest like lobster?

Tandaris Admiran -> ((A LOBSTER! Of course, it’s so simple! Why didn’t I think of that?))

Rue Wydown -> Yep. Wellll....more like a killer mechanical dolphin.

Fae -> Dolphin meat is not traditional.

Rue Wydown -> ((The claws. Think of those killer claws))

Cptn Swain -> ::Does one of those looks, not entirely sure if she was joking, given the reputation of the spotted Engineering.::

Taryn Castell -> I made it back in one piece and Ryan and I spent a couple of hours in my quarters after. He makes for... interesting... company. ::Smirks.::

Tandaris Admiran -> ((OK, gang, scrap the killer albatross. We’re going with a deadly invertebrate instead.))

Cptn Swain -> ::Decides its better if he doesn't know and shakes his head::

Karl A. Schultz -> :: pores over the known facts about the Latene Cluster....

Cptn Swain -> ::Clears his throat:: Mister Waters, if we're all ready... let'

Cptn Swain -> s go ahead and get in the queue to disembark.

Rue Wydown -> ::enters the lift, trying not to laugh::

Maryse Dubois -> Oh really? ::Sits down across from Taryn, waiting for more.:: Do tell.

Fae -> :: Sends a last 'all aboard whose coming aboard' warning to any crew members not already on board, and a go away to those on board who aren't due to sail. ::

Fae -> Aye, Captain.

Fae -> + Station Ops+ Request departure clearance, please.

T'Prehl -> ::continues reading up on the reports::

Fae -> :: Moves navigation control to the bridge, which will hopefully be a not too subtle hint to Engineering. ::

Cptn Swain -> ::Leans back into his chair, this was his favorite part::

Fae -> :: Checks status of the engines, just to be sure we really can move... ::

Cptn Swain -> Sprint> +Excalibur+ Camelot CNC to Excalibur, you are cleared for departure. Have fun!

Fae -> :: Scans the dry dock, making sure nothing is in the way. ::

Rue Wydown -> ::after a few moments, exits off the lift and heads to main engineering, wondering what madboy tech Tandaris has come up with::

Fae -> +Station Ops+ Fun. Aye aye. Excalibur departing.

Fae -> Ready to roll, captain.

Cptn Swain -> Clear all moorings, then.

Taryn Castell -> Well, I think we were both still a little tipsy. And very hungover. ::She scanned a barrage of cartridges and arranged them neatly.:: I don't really remember how it all happened, but one thing led to another and then we were... you know...

Karl A. Schultz -> Lsatene Cluster is an open cluster with existed for about 87 million years

Fae -> :: Switches to internal power and releases the umbilical. Notes the dry dock tractors releasing. ::

Fae -> :: Shifts running lights from docked to ship in motion. ::

Fae -> Floating free.

Tandaris Admiran -> ::in engineering, decidedly not working on any madcap schemes::

Cptn Swain -> Ahead, thrusters only.

Fae -> :: Checks for traffic, then engages thrusters. ::

Fae -> Thrusters, aye.

T'Prehl -> ::finishes up on reading the reports, not findng much else of significance::

Maryse Dubois -> ::Smirks, without divulging too much information yet. She leans in a little more, resting her chin on her hands.:: Did he do the thing where he started kissing your neck, then moved up to your ear?

Rue Wydown -> ((now that's a disappointment...no madcap schemes :( )))

Charlotte Matsumura -> ::satisfied with the duty logs, gets up from her desk and opts to make a few rounds as they prepare for departure::

Fae -> :: Tries to be smooth without being square or rigid. ::

Fae -> :: gotta make pretend one is classy ::

Rue Wydown -> ::entering main engineering, actively looking for Tandaris::

Cptn Swain -> ::Likely one of 5 CO's in the entire fleet who didn't break the "thrusters only while in dock" rule::

Fae -> :: Pitches a bit so engaging impulse won't catch anyone in the backwash ::

Taryn Castell -> ::Taryn laughed.:: I should have known. He's been eyeing you since he came aboard. Hmm... I suppose he's working his way through medical. ::She glanced about to the other staff on duty.:: Who is next, you think?

Cptn Swain -> Once we've cleared dry dock, ahead 1/4 impulse bearing... 132.1.9 mark 5.

Fae -> Clear of station.132.1.9 mark five. :: plots it in ::

Tandaris Admiran -> ::sees Rue approach:: Hello, Commander. What brings you down here?

Karl A. Schultz -> + T'Prehl ) Schultz here. I am just reviewing the data over Latene cluster.... I can't wait until we get there

Fae -> 1/4 impulse. :: makes it so. ::

Maryse Dubois -> ::Grins.:: My money is on Nurse Espinosa.

T'Prehl -> +Schultz+ Excellent. Yes, exploring the cluster should hopefully prove ... educational.

Rue Wydown -> Oooooooh, just wanted to see what trouble you were up to down here? ::rather innocently::

Fae -> How tight to the ion storm do you want to play it, captain?

Karl A. Schultz -> + T'Prehl ) we will be mapping the Latene Cluster ... can't wait until we enter the Cluster

Fae -> I have a theory that a longer but faster course might be best.

Taryn Castell -> Hmmm... yes, she's got a nice set of... tricorders. ::Snickers.::

Cptn Swain -> As far as we can without going too far off course. It's a bit of a trip out to Latene anyway.

T'Prehl -> +Schultz+ Yes, we will be mapping the Cluster if I am not mistaken.

Cptn Swain -> What, two weeks or so at 7?

Fae -> Understood. Let me check the numbers.

Fae -> :: punches numbers a bit. ::

Tandaris Admiran -> ::feigned look of injury:: I don’t know what you mean, Commander. We’re just working hard to keep the engines top efficiency.

Fae -> Yah. Two weeks at 7 fits in the envelope I was thinking of.

Fae -> :: Refines such a course and puts it up on the display ::

Maryse Dubois -> ::Laughs.:: It just a matter of guessing who's next after that. ::Leans back.:: So did you hear about our new guest on the ship?

Cptn Swain -> Let the fighters know they can launch their regular patrol routes once we're fully underway. I am sure they're ready to get back out. ::Would never get used to having those things aboard.::

Rue Wydown -> Surrrrrrrre. ::smirks:: So, about that flashy, shiny thing you and science were working on. Any more news? Are have we given it up for being an expensive paperweight.

Fae -> :: Forwards the 'regular patrol' authorization to Flight, along with the course information. ::

Tandaris Admiran -> Well, I had to go on shore leave. While I was gone, apparently several shady figures representing Starfleet Intelligence showed up to take custody of the device and all the data associated with it.

Cptn Swain -> ::Stands and makes his way forward on the bridge:: How long until we're clear for warp?

Fae -> Oh, they wouldn't chase us if we went now, but two more minutes would be polite.

Taryn Castell -> ::Slides the drawer in until it locks and then removes the next.:: No, have you heard anything? I understand he's the scientific sort.

Cptn Swain -> ::Nods:: Very good.

Maryse Dubois -> Worse. He's a Bioethicist...

Rue Wydown -> It still didn't work when they took it, yes?

Taryn Castell -> I can't even pretend to know what that means. ::Shakes her head.::

Fae -> :: Checks status of the warp drive ::

Fae -> :: Punches in a last minute minor diagnostic to flight systems. ::

T'Prehl -> ::monitors the area on the console::

Fae -> +Engineering+ We are about to engage on a two week run at warp seven.

Maryse Dubois -> Lets just say that geneticists and bioethicists don't necessarily get along.

Karl A. Schultz -> :: tries to determine how long the journey to the Cluster would take assuming standard cruise speed

Fae -> Just passed the polite buoy, captain. Good to go. :: Confirms plot laid in. ::

Cptn Swain -> ::Despite not being happy with this mission, he couldn't deny he still very much enjoyed this part of a mission. There was something ... majestic ... about a tall ship::

Tandaris Admiran -> ::Rue:: No. We managed to activate it in some sort of standby mode and access an onboard memory unit. But we had no way of triggering or firing or engaging it … whatever it did.

Cptn Swain -> ::Puts a hand on her shoulder and grins::

Cptn Swain -> Ahead, Warp 7 Mister Waters.

Fae -> :: Looks up and smiles. ::

Fae -> Warp seven, engaging... now. :: Pushes go fast button ::

Taryn Castell -> Oh, he's *that* sort. ::Snorts.:: Doesn't like people meddling with genetics? Thinks we should all just live and die without tampering?

Fae -> :: Works up through the warps a bit slowly, watching the engines as she climbs, giving things time to warm up, watching... ::

Maryse Dubois -> Pretty much. Bet my father would love to have a long chat with him...

Fae -> :: Thinking safe rather than elegant for a bit... ::

Karl A. Schultz -> :: plots the course route from the Starbase to the Cluster on stellar cartogrphy screen

Rue Wydown -> Won't SFI be surprised they have a lemon on their hands.

Fae -> Looking good...

Rue Wydown -> ::glad to not be in the room when that occurs::

Cptn Swain -> ::Grins as the ship surges ahead:: Well, I think I am going to go on a walkabout. Stretch my legs. I still haven't seen much of the ship in action be truthful.

T'Prehl -> ::glances about::

Tandaris Admiran -> ::shrugs:: It’s possible they’ll be able to decipher more of the data to determine the device’s function. I would have liked to work on it more, but I guess someone decided it was above my pay grade.

Fae -> Hopefully not too much action, sir. Watch out for killer lobsters.

Tandaris Admiran -> ::leans back against his console:: I hear we have a bioethicist coming on board?

Cptn Swain -> Mister t'Prehl. You have the bridge.

T'Prehl -> ::nods:: Yes sir.

Cptn Swain -> ::Looks at Fae and shakes his head:: Killer lobster... oy

Fae -> Oy, indeed. Wouldn't shock me though, if between Tandaris and Rue, we have at least an inflatable version wandering around.

Cptn Swain -> ::Heads for the lift::

T'Prehl -> ::looks at Fae and the Captain, curious about killer crustaceans::

Maryse Dubois -> ((lol For some reason I started thinking of Sea Quest.))

T'Prehl -> (Why not Zoidberg?)

T'Prehl -> (lol)

Taryn Castell -> That's an understatement. ::She grinned.:: I'm sure my mothers would as well, considering how I wouldn't even be here without genetic interference.

Cptn Swain -> ((I've threatened for years to play Zoidburg in a game. ))

Maryse Dubois -> ((lol))

Fae -> :: Pays a lot of attention to the engines for a bit. Does not want to explain killer lobsters to a vulcan. ::

Rue Wydown -> Aye, he's set up in the guest quarters as we speak. We'll be having a meet and greet shortly. This ought to be interesting. :;smirks::

Maryse Dubois -> ::Smiles.:: We'll just be sure to stay clear of him.

Tandaris Admiran -> ((Considering Vulcan is rather arid, I suppose marine biology is not a very popular discipline either!))

Cptn Swain -> ::Decides to stop by sickbay, he'd managed to avoid it pretty well, but he also knew that if you threw them a bone once and a while they were less likely to be ... well you know, doctors.::

Rue Wydown -> ((ROFL)

T'Prehl -> (A logical assumption)

Tandaris Admiran -> ::nods, looking slightly past her as if lost in thought:: Indeed. Interesting field, bioethics….

Rue Wydown -> Oh? Something of interest to you there?

Cptn Swain -> ::exits the lift and heads for sickbay::

Taryn Castell -> I think that would probably be best. ::She slid another organized drawer back into the case and scanned it into the inventory.::

Maryse Dubois -> I suppose though, if something were to happen to him, we would have to help...

Tandaris Admiran -> ::glances at Rue:: All my lives have involved questionable choices, too many of them about how to deal with medical issues. Haven’t yours?

Cptn Swain -> ::Rounds the corner and enters, smiling.::

Cptn Swain -> (( In fairness, Tandaris, you really didn't choose to become a walking flashdrive for the Scorpiad ship ... ))

Cptn Swain -> Doctors...

T'Prehl -> ::checking their course heading and progress to the Cluster::

Edward Svejk -> ::Wakes and surveys quarters, distressed to find the space insufficient.::

Rue Wydown -> I've run into questionable choices, sure. Especially during the war.

Tandaris Admiran -> It does raise the question … of why we need a _bioethicist_ out in such a remote region of space. What are we up to over there?

Maryse Dubois -> ::Turns as she hears the Captain's voice.:: Captain? This is an unexpected visit. Is there something wrong?

Cptn Swain -> No, not that I am aware. Though isn't that your job to tell me? ::smirks::

Taryn Castell -> Hello, Captain. How are you this lovely day?

Karl A. Schultz -> :: should check upon the sensors to make sure that they are working at peak efficiency for the survey

Edward Svejk -> ::Walks to food replicator and scrolls through menu, frown deepening.::

Maryse Dubois -> ::Smiles.:: I suppose it is.

Rue Wydown -> You're not going to play Chicken Little too, are you?

Cptn Swain -> I figured I would come down and see you, before you two drug me down here. ::grins::

Cptn Swain -> I've found it ... works better if the Captain beats the doctors to the punch on that.

Maryse Dubois -> Now why would we do a thing like that? ::Innocent look.::

Taryn Castell -> Don't say 'drug' in our presence. Or we just might.

Tandaris Admiran -> If it’s important enough for Starfleet to go to all this trouble, then there’s something more serious happening. Otherwise they could have consulted with him via subspace.

Cptn Swain -> ::Smirks:: I've been around a long time, you know.

Edward Svejk -> ::Replicates a cup of tea and sniffs it dismissively before setting the drink aside.::

Maryse Dubois -> You don't look a day over 30, Sir.

Rue Wydown -> True enough. But my understanding is that we're ferrying him out there. We might have any involvement in what's going on at all.

Cptn Swain -> You're too kind.

Cptn Swain -> ::Makes his way over to a biobed::

Charlotte Matsumura -> ::armory is her first stop on her rounds::

Charlotte Matsumura -> ::enters, nodding to the master at arms, moving to the terminal to check the activity and inventory logs::

Cptn Swain -> (( Two minute warning ))

T'Prehl -> ::Looking at maps of the Cluster and any other info she can find on it::

Tandaris Admiran -> ::laughs:: I’ll believe that when it actually happens. This ship always ends up in the thick of things we aren’t supposed to be involved in.

Karl A. Schultz -> :: going over the sensor system

Rue Wydown -> Sure, but don't tell the new Captain that. We'll scare him off. ::smirks::

Cptn Swain -> ...and...

Cptn Swain -> PAUSE SIM

Cptn Swain -> PAUSE SIM

Cptn Swain -> PAUSE SIM

Maryse Dubois -> ::paused.::

T'Prehl -> ::Paused::

Fae -> :: Paused ::

Cptn Swain -> Good work everyone.

Cptn Swain -> Also say hello to Dr. Svejk. He will be our Special Guest for a while.

Cptn Swain -> TBS will be about an hour or so. When we pick up, we'll be underway and having a meet and greet with Dr. Svejk in the Officer's Lounge.
