The Coming Daybreak - Decent into Night Pt 5

L'haiy stood there and just watched Var'lon catching a light nap. The night, had been one that defied words to describe it, but finally he had succumbed to the need for sleep, and she enjoyed every moment of being able to watch him finally be able to relax. The depths of her jol for this man, were also without words, and her mind raced trying to think up some way that she could remain here with him and their child, but there was na escaping this. Any attempt on her part to remain, would only hurt both he and their son, something she was not willing to do. The several drinks he had last night probably contributed to his rest at this point, but she knew he needed it, and wanted to let him rest what little he could. She took this opportunity to pack a few remaining items that she wanted, particularly a family portrait that had just been taken the other day with the 3 of them. Thinking of the baby, she went and got him from his crib, and returned with him to hold him, and sit there next to Var'lon, watching him sleep again. Her two men, and she had to do what she could to protect them. Smiling for the only time since she had received the news of her deployment, she thought of them, and placed the sleeping child next to her husband, and took another photo so she'd be able to keep that image fresh in her mind as well, then retrieved Val'ron from the bed.

She walked over to the etrehh to record a brief message to the hospital, telling them to wake t'Temarr, and to make sure she had her bags prepared to travel within the hour. After sending that notice, she activated the etrehh again, and recorded two more messages. Io for Val'ron, so that when he grew up, he'd have this recording of her to perhaps remember her by, as she assumed she would na be returning from this mission. The other, she recorded for Var'lon, letting him know how much she loved him, asking him na to blame himself for her being deployed, and asking him to promise that if something were to happen to her, that he let it go, and forget any vengeance or retribution, as he had to think of the welfare of their son. An attempt by him upon those really responsible, if it went awry, could come back to hurt their son, and that she was not worth that. Looking at the timepiece on the mantle, she saw it was about time that she had to report to start serving her sentence.
