Regrets and Recriminations - Decent into Night pt 4

Fvillah Tricus tr'Salis reflected upon what had happened earlier that evening, as he stood and watched the obviously angry Var'lon tr'Vatrix, as he left his study. When the man had stopped and turned to face him, he could have sworn he was going to pull his ie'yakk and confront him with it, but instead he only issued a warning.

The man had dared to stand his ground, said his peace and left without further conflict, although it was obvious that he was a man now awash in an unforgiving anger. Even through the tenseness of their meeting, tr'Vatrix had been composed enough to carefully select his words, with only one or two minor aberrations. Aberrations that could have been cause enough to have had him arrested had he held a lesser position in the regime', but had Tricus done so on such minor outburst, he would have found that he'd have lost any support he might have had in the Deihu over this.

The accusations which he had laid at the Daise'Khre'Riov's feet, though obtained through the counsel of some of his other trusted advisers, also had na hard, cold facts tied to the worst of it. Tricus began to wonder about the words tr'Vatrix had given him before he left; that perhaps he should be wary of what those other advisers were telling the Fvillah, as he claimed that the accusations against he and his bondmate were false and were being used as a personal attack against his position, his house, his bondmate and Galae.

This was a man that until now had just been a minor inconvenience or annoyance when he disagreed with the Fvillah's agenda, but for the most part, he had always been supportive and given good advice. The annoying part is that he had a way of turning many of their conversations and plans around to something that was more in line with tr’Vatrix had in mind instead, often because he had the backing of the Deihu or had done his homework on issues; he always had a key counter argument. Some of the Fvillah's other advisors whispered to Tricus that tr’Vatrix attempted to make the Fvillah his puppet, but others also whispered that he was just one of those that followed the old ways and was forever loyal, that he was making sure to protect the best interest of his Fvillah and would na turn against him, it was against his nature to do so. Hmmm, perhaps, but that was before, but h’nah, that may have all just changed. Of that he was sure of by the look he had been given as the man left that evening.

The Daise’Khre’Riov was either as cunning and dangerous as he had been warned of, so cold as not even to react as others had predicted he would to the situation of being made to send his bondmate away; that, or he was already plotting his revenge. But which was it? The advice he had been given, had all suggested that he'd react poorly, become confrontational, and outright refuse to send her, which is why extra dheno had been posted throughout the building, and a dampening field had been enacted to prevent beaming in an out. Tricus looked down and noted that he had actually placed his finger on the button to call the dheno to arrest the man, but had na need to press it.

Na, now Tricus had a larger problem and he was now puzzled and more worried than before he had sent for the man. He was angry with himself that he may have just let himself be played by tr’Vren, tr’Merk or perhaps even both of them. Fvadt, if he had given in and let the petty squabbles of his command staff undermine issues of the Empire, he’d be sure to have someone’s head. Had they truly counseled him based upon credible threat? Had they done this in their ongoing quest to discredit the ‘above reproach’ tr’Vatrix? Done this to put the man in a spot where his loyalty ‘had’ to be called into question, or had they done it themselves to put Tricus himself, the Fvillah, into a dangerous position with a now angered head of Galae. Was this perhaps even their plan to put themselves into a position to rise higher?

Regardless, h’nah he had a real problem. Instead of having someone that he could discuss policy and tactics with, and the occasional working disagreement, he had perhaps just made a deadly enemy, and doubted he could do much about it at this point. He had wounded the man. Ie, that was the look the tr’Vatrix had in his eyes, that of a wounded animal, and a wounded animal often became unpredictable and you never knew when they might strike.

In that, tr’Vatrix had been right, Tricus really had left him na option. Tricus feared that he had wounded trVatrix so deeply that he may na ever be safe around him. He had to consider his own options h’nah, would he have to have tr’Vatrix ‘removed’, to preserve his own life? He would have to have him watched at the very least, and that, only lead into the hands of tr’Vren and tr’Merk, and would let them have their way. Fvadt. Maybe he should have all three removed? He needed another drink.
