Since it's our first anniversary, and we're all waxing nostalgic, I thought I'd throw the question out there.

Where did all you folks come from?

Comments and stories are welcome.  :D

Actually how I found STSF was that the Star Fleet Lounge was going through the great spammer and java war and most of the people in the Star Fleet lounge retreated to the ready room or the holodeck and one tuesday I went to the holodeck and I found the STSF GMs and they all freeked out

"Complete and utter chance."

Moose! How could you not put that on the poll? Most of the earlier graduates joined STSF by "complete and utter chance" when they stumbled into the holodeck while a game was being started.

That is what happened for me. I don't remember why but I was in the holodeck and a "GM" started sending out macro's about a game that was going to be played. I loved the idea so I decided to play and see what happened. It was a great sim, I can even recall the details . . . I was the CENG and we were on an away mission on this planet, I remember the generator I was supposed to fix exploded and we all had to run, then someone was sucked into the ground and we got chased by dogs through the caves . . . needless to say it was a great sim and I came back for more after that one.

Yep, yep, thats how I joined, by complete and utter chance. I fell into the holodeck on the fatefull day of September 20th, 2002, my 1 year anniversary on STSF will be in a month as of today. Where has the time gone? At the time there wasn't any advertising for STSF.net on StarTrek.com so I couldn't follow links or anything. I had never simmed before so I couldn't hear about it from anyone else and I was not on the AOL group so I couldn't have been transfered.

Needless to say it has been a great 11 months simming on STSF and I plan to continue to have a great time.

Here here Garnoopy!!!  I was wondering around startrek.com, and by chance I found the holodeck.  "Startrek roleplay" it said, hmm...interesting.  I entered the holodeck, and found the monday acadmey just ending.  I asked if I could join the next one, but A9 himself informed me about STSF and pointed me twards the web site.  I watched the Manticore sim, while reading about the rules and stuff, and became instantly hooked.  I went to the tuesday sim the next day, and on my third sim I graduated and was posted on the USS Reaent.

And in less then two months, my one year aniversary coming up, and its been the funnest year of my life.  Thank you STSF!  :D

Just to add something, while I may not have hit the rank of Lt, I've been using the SN Lt. Travis Kroells since my first holodeck apperance, Maybe I'll change it...maybe not...I dont think Im known as Travis Kroells, but rather that guy that wears too many pips.  :D    :D

We're really not here.  We are all just massive lines of computer code and jargon made to simulate an actual human being.

:D

Anyway, I followed a link from startrek.com.  I have no clue why.  Heh.

Hehehe... when I joined, there where no links at StarTrek.com. Like some of the others, I just happened to have stumbled into the Holodeck one night, and began simming.

It's only been a year, but already we are thinking:

"Whatever happened to some of these people I simmed with in the beginning?"

My first sim... yup, still remember it. Precip was CENG, I was AENG. Can't for the life of me remember the plot, though. :D

Speaking of remembering people I first simmed with... this brings up a question. "Whatever happened to Cochese?!?"

Heh heh heh.

I came to the holodeck out sheer boredom and the rest is history. You can find it in a book called "Useless Stuff No One Cares About" :D

True Hd, true.  I'd have to say that 90% of the quote un-quote "First" graduates just stumbled across STSF.  Before the advertising, we were relivily small, if any one remembers the times we didnt have enough people to fill the department cheif spots you know what Im talking about.

I know on first hand, that the day that link went up, STSF exploaded with new cadets.

"Whatever happened to Cochese?!?"

Yea, that guy ruled.  Wonder what happened to him...I had my first sim with him, it was a tuesday night, he was the CSCI, and I was his ASCI.  Our shuttle crashed into the water, and I moddified transporter enhancers to act as force fields.

Or was that the sim that I graduated from?

Heh, I too found STSF through the Star Trek chatrooms.  So one day, I clicked on the link to the website, read the schedule and joined academy.  4 Academies later, I graduated..and the rest, as they say, is history.   :D  Can't believe it's been more than 3 months already. Where does the time go, eh?

of course! now that was so infuriating (yet in a fun way), we kept saying we'd solved it, then fifteen seconds later we each said, "Hey wait! maybe it's..." but we got it in the end grom!

Well I just clicked on the link to the Holodeck and joined an impromptu sim with people who wanted to "get the Romulans".  That's as far as we got before a GM (I think it was Huff but I can't remember that far back) said "We have this room reserved."  Of course there was nothing on the startrek.com website saying the room was reserved.

Then they asked me if I had graduated an Academy, which looking back was pretty funny since at the time NO ONE had graduated yet.  Hell, they barely had Academys running!  So I said "Screw you guys, you have no right to reserve a public room like this!  I'm gonna join your Academys, graduate, and then you CAN'T kick me out!"

A graduation, 2 advanced sims, a promotion, and a Vegas trip later here I am.

Here here.  Makes me wonder where stsf would be if the first few of us hadnt stumbled into the rooms.  Some people desearve more credit then they get.

You know, I was just telling my credit card company the same thing.

But that's a good point.  If it weren't for the pioneers like Precip, me, Garnoopy, Cochese (Gee, what DID happen to that guy?) and Travis where would we be?

Dont forget HD, he was right behind.  And I'd think that stsf, would have gotten up on its own, but it would be no where near what it is today.

One thing is for sure, there would be a lot fewer posts.
