The Tube Cleaners

After the events leading to the separation and eventual rejoining of the QoB and Lakota crews and ships I decided to eat my meal in the mess hall rather than in my usual solitude.  The crew was wondering how the fight between Garnoopy and Ramjep was playing out.  I was about to display the holodeck images on the mess hall viewscreen when we witnessed some "entertainment" of our own.

Two of the engineers in my department, Koralev and Prekip, decided to engage in a brawl, in front of the HoD and RawI', over a relatively trivial matter.  I wasn't sure how they would react to seeing this and what they would think about my department.  Klingon justice is different than Federation. There are less rules and regulations here than on a Federation ship but the punishments are often harsher by Federation standards.  I could care less about what happened to Prekip (He missed a spot cleaning his tube.) but I decided to protect Koralev and explained he had been cleaning tubes for the last 7 years.  That seemed to have deflected most of their anger.

It began 7 years ago with the integration of the QoB and Lakota command structures.  The new Chief Engineer at the time had assigned all of the lower engineers to clean the tubes.  Sometime during that 7 years the CENG either died or was reassigned.  I finished my tube first and BcH gave me the job.  A few months later Prekip and Koralev finished their tubes.

Although I did not witness the entire fight Koralev sent Prekip to the MRF holding one of his arms in his other hand.  It will not do for my department to be at each other's throats but I fear the vagueness of Klingon justice will not lead to an optimum solution.  I will petition the BcH to let me keep this within the department and handle it myself.

Your tubes cannot be as clean without the original tubecleaner!

They died too!

Besides, YOU come up with a creative way for a new ship simmer to explain why no one on the ship knows him even though he has been part of the crew (in theory) for 7 years.
