Disgruntled Fan

On her way to the pantry, Kalicia t’Ksa passed her older sister Lannisal sitting at the counter scribbling away on the ISD and making all manner of faces at it as she did so. Normally, Kalicia would have ignored her, as Lannisal had become a bit obsessive in her pursuit to planning the perfect celebration of their eldest sister’s impending joining. But Lannisal was acting stranger than strange, Kalicia stopped to first observe then inquire as to what the Elements she was up to.

 

“Working.” Lannisal answered.

 

“On what?” Kalicia eyed her older sister with suspicion “Let me see.”

 

“Na, it’s personal.” Lannisal shifted to block Kalicia’s view of the ISD.

 

“Wait. Is that a message board you’ve created?” Kalicia asked, having gotten at least a momentary peek at what was on the screen.

 

“It doesn’t concern you. Go away.”

 

“Let me see that.” With some effort, the Galae Officer wrestled the ISD away from her older sister, “Why does it say KogaSBienIsAJerk.com?”

 

“Because governmental filters wouldn’t allow the creation of a more appropriate domain name.” Lannisal scowled, pouting in a manner that gave Kalicia chills.

 

This gave Kalicia pause to formulate the right words to ask her sister delicately what she was up to. Finally, she simply asked, “Why?”

 

“Because he is.”

 

“How would you--”

 

Lannisal took a deep breath, then started to rant in a manic voice, “He’s a member of Morgana’s crew, and a decorated Galae officer as she is. I thought he would be willing to assist the family of his Executive Officer, and to take some of the burden off that Executive Officer, by proving vital information in the preparation for the celebration of her upcoming House merger. He agreed to meet with us.”

 

“Wait....us?” Kalicia asked cautiously.

 

“Ie, us.” Lannisal motioned between the two sisters.

 

“Why did au drag me into this?”

 

“Because au are a fellow Galae officer.” Lannisal stated as if this answer was the most logical choice. “As I was saying, he *agreed* to meet. Then the fvadt verrul sends me this imbecilic letter refusing the request....addressing it to,” She opened another screen on her ISD “Unknown Lady Person,” Lannisal fumed. “Unknown Lady Person?!?”

 

“Lanni, I don’t think he--” Kalicia attempted to calm her older sister down.

 

“Unknown Lady Person! He addressed a fan as Unknown Lady Person.” She grabbed the ISD away from her sister, “First he re-negs on his offer to assist us, to meet with us. Then he addressed the sister of his Executive Officer as ‘Unknown Lady Person’. Alienate his fan base, alienate the family of his crewmembers....”

 

“Soooooooo...you’re starting a campaign to tarnish his name.” Kalicia stated the obvious, watching Lannisal carefully.

 

“He did that to himself.” Lannisal brandished the ISD. “Look how many people have signed up for updates so far? Hmmmm......Unknown Lady Person. Let’s see what happens when all of us band together.”

 

“You know, you could have asked Delon or I to access the Galae database and--”

 

But Lannisal was no longer listening, she was frantically typing on the ISD, speaking with another disgruntled fan. Kalicia wisely decided to leave the room before her older sister started to brandish the sharp objects in the room. Between Lannisal’s manic obsession with the perfect celebratory party and Morgana’s avoidance in planning any of the details, Kalicia was beginning to wonder if this bonding would ever take place.
