Crash Calestorm

Fore!

This is a tag to Commander Wesley's 'Recreation?' log...Fore!!

Captain Calestorm watched over bridge operations, pleased with what she observed. Outwardly.

Inwardly, her emotions ran the gamut from disapproval to admiration to outright wanting to drag their errant flagship commander back by his ear. Wouldn't be the first time she'd bucked an established CoC and knocked a few heads together.

Might explain why she was a Career Captain, eh? Anyway…

Sensors had detected an anomaly. The other patrol ships had confirmed the readings. Whether the event was naturally occurring or man made was unknown as it had gone poof. Then, a Romulan vessel with a Bird of Prey configuration pops onto the long range recorders, skimming along the Federation side of the border.

Had the BoP cause the readings? And was there a Romulan fleet waiting for them somewhere out there? Or was the entire incident purely coincidental?

The Bird of Prey was a risk, a liability, had trespassed within established territory. If there was true Romulan activity along the RNZ, then this sighting could be the needed confirmation. The ships commander had no doubt spotted the Starfleet ships, which was another concern if a report was made to the home command.

So, anyway, Captain Kirk detaches the USS Enterprise from the task force to head off after the Romulan, complete with Admiral Coyote in tow. And what really irked the hell out of Calestorm is that she would have done the exact same thing in Kirk's place.

Admiral Coyote had recently pointed out that Crash and Jim Kirk were alike in some ways; she'd damn near figuratively clocked her friend, the threat of a stint in the brig notwithstanding. Craig Tigard had diffused the verbal situation with one of his patented Marine DI bellows, and Cale'd dialed back her temper.

Could she and Wonder Boy have common ground? Any common ground? He'd stepped in and took command of their RNZ Alpha Task Force like an old pro, she had to admit that…

"Uh, Sir?"

Her attention went to the young ensign on shift relief at the communications console.

"Ship to ship communications traffic reports that…Captain Dodge is…on the saucer hull of the Bozeman."

Calestorm crinkled her brow in confusion. "Okay. And…what, is he gonna jump? 'Cause we'll have to tractor him back in if he does." She hadn't meant for the statement to sound as sarcastic as it did; she noted quick looks from some of the senior bridge officers.

"No Captain. He's putting a golf ball. Um, Sir? Is that normal?"

She couldn't help but smile. "Ensign, I'd say that's par for the course."
