What's in a Name?

It had been about a week since they had returned, and it had been a she suspected it would be. Var’lon had been tied up with meetings and conferences almost nonstop and had barely been able to see her home before he was whisked off for yet another meeting. At least this time that they had on the way home, they discussed the future and that of her son, finally having somewhat agreed upon the name. While not wanting to subjugate the child to have an answer to the exact same name as his father and causing confusion, we decided to go with a similar spelling. Val’ron. Almost bringing me to tears, being one of only two people that knew the truth, Var’lon had suggested honoring my late brother Irshae with the child’s second name. Custom would have placed my most recent name, t’Rexan there, but after the way that N’Vrak had dishonored both of us, we agreed that it would na be appropriate. We had thought perhaps my father’s family name, Kallen, but that had been Bartram’s already, and brought sad memories of the past, so the decision was made. Irshae it would be. Val’ron Irshae tr’Vatrix.

Fortunately had had kept his list fairly small of those dignitaries that had been invited to the naming ceremony, but there were still a few there, that I was not pleased to see; having been the target of many of their verbal barbs already.

I half suspected that the Kheinsa would be by sometime soon, one to check on me, but as well as to inform me as to t’Temarr’s condition. That was another matter I needed to attend to. I wanted to go visit, but had been busy with the child and I know Var’lon was na very keen on my going back there after my last visit. That, and he still did na trust the woman, but I wanted to. I think deep down, I needed to. Well, if she could na travel to see me, I would just see about going to see her soon.
