Trek Nation

The Science Channel is airing a show "Trek Nation" on the legacy of Gene Roddenberry. Y'all might want to try it.

I was surprised that Eugene knew little, if anything, about what his dad was doing or the impact it had on a good portion of the population. I enjoyed seeing Gene, Sr. onscreen again, and Majel.

Trek Nation was an excellent two hour documentary/introspective. I enjoyed it. Well done, showing a man discovering who his father was, and the legacy of what his father started.

The interview with J.J. Abrams, as Gene Jr. showed him a taped interview with Gene Sr from the 1980's?

I had a ::headsplode:: moment, to hear it directly from Gene Sr that he (and I'm paraphrasing here) "would go back to when Kirk was younger and taking command of the Enterprise, (redoing Star Trek) with a new cast...".

He predicted, pretty much, that the Original Trek would be redone/upgraded at some point. Score another one for Gene Roddenberry Sr's foresight!

I don't know which I'm more sad about - that I thought it was on last week and I had forgotten about it when I was home, or that I missed it this week because I don't have Science in my apartment. :(
