Long Distance Consultation, Part 1

Long Distance Consultation, Part 1

Daise'Erei'Riov t'Ksa & tr'Aieme

“Hann’yyo for taking care of it,” t’Ksa bowed her head respectfully to the lead administrator at the Justarus Shipyards. Na more than twenty suiren ago, she’d witnessed an altercation between io of the Talon’s engineering staff members and the repair team from the shipyard. The Talonite had been in the right, yet how they went about expressing themselves had been clearly inappropriate. The behavior of both individuals troubled t’Ksa. While she would speak to tr’Pexil later about the incident and leave the disciplining his team to him, she felt she needed to speak to tr’Solos herself since she’d borne witness to the event.

In truth, it also gave her the opportunity to get some “air” away from Talon. Opportunities to leave the ship were scarce and a space walk was out of the question. So the Daise’Erei’Riov was na about to pass of this valuable opportunity to put some space between her and the place she’d once considered home.

“Do na mention it. t’Movar was in the wrong. And knows it too. I’ll have it straightened before au can even blink an eye.” The older gentleman smiled, escorting the Daise’Erei’Riov through the bustling terminal. He watched t’Ksa glance at her chrono. “Something wrong, Lhhei?”

“Mmfph.” She sighed softly. “I have a conference set up with Galae Medical in a few moments to discuss personnel for the medical department. Person to person, and au know how difficult those transmissions can be this far from ch’Rihan.” She winced as io of the passing crewmembers almost bumped into the two officers tried to hurry back to the Talon’s airlock. “This took a shade longer than I expected and I’m afraid I’m going to miss my window.”

“Why don’t au have it routed to io of our conference rooms here.” tr’Solos motioned to the corridor above and to the left of them. “Au can still have au’s privacy, au won’t miss au’s appointment and can oversee the Talon’s external repairs from room io or re.”

“Au don’t mind?” Morgana glanced up at the walkway. It would be far faster to head there any to return to Talon and settle in her new office. Besides she hated that office anyway and this would allow her a brief respite from the chaos of it all.

“Na at all.” He nodded. “Come. Let me get au set up.”

~~~~~
Daise’Enarrain Hexce Velal strolled purposely back to his office from the symposium. He was making good time and would make his appointment with Daise’Erei’Riov t’Ksa if he didn’t have to stop and......
“Rekkhai!”
Fvadt, He sighed. Pretending na to hear the call, he continued along.
“Rekkhai!” The voice was accompanied by jogging footfalls as it’s owner attempted to catch up with the Galae Medical Daise Maenak. “A moment, fhaen. I promise na to keep au too long.”
“Walk with me then. I have an appointment I must keep.” While Hexce did na break his stride, he did glance at the Kheinsa as the man caught up with him. “What is it tr’Aieme?”
“The command of the Kihai’s Cry. Are au sure au wish to grant t’Parthok clearance to take it?” tr’Aieme matched the Daise’Maenak’s strides as they headed into the administration building.
“I know her self esteem is rather inflated....”
“Sir, with all due respect, she’s a borderline megalomaniac.” tr’Aieme scowled. “Au authorize her to take command will only push her over the edge.”
“What would au have me do, Kheinsa?” Velal entered the lift with the Kheinsa closely behind. “She’s earned the rank.”
“Rank and command are two different thing, Rekkhai.” tr’Aeime folded his arms across his chest in a defensive fashion. “Don’t test her ego. She’ll break...or that ship will.”
The Daise’Enarrain glanced at his chrono. “Look, why don’t we discuss this in the morning before the review board.”
“I’d rather discuss it now, with all due respect, rekkhai. I’m concerned.”
“I know au are, Kheinsa, but I have an appointment to keep with the Talon’s Daise’Erei’Riov.”
“Oh?”
“Ie, seems she’s rather picky when it comes to selecting replacement crew members for their medical department and wants to discuss the recommendations that have been forwarded to her. Very persnickety that one.” Velal shook his head. “Can’t seem to blame her though. Two of them were involved in an altercation to kidnap the Daise’Maenak. Got y’ya’d for it.” He shook his head sadly.
“What?” tr’Aieme jerked his head sharply towards the Daise’Enarrain.
“The whole situation is a mess.” Velal continued. “I wouldn’t wish it on my worse enemy. Nor to deal with her. You might know of her. t’Ksa. She’s about your age. Maybe at the Academy at the same time au were. Impossible woman.”
“Ie, I know of her.” tr’Aieme frowned, seemingly lost in his own world. He jerked back into the present when the lift doors opened. “Perhaps au could send the Daise’Erei’Riov’s transmission down to me when au are finished, rekkhai. I’m sure she’ll have some concerns about grief counseling for her medical team.”
“Very menkha, Kheinsa,” the Daise’Enarrain stepped off the lift, leaving tr’Aieme alone. “I’ll see you in my office tomorrow morning, first thing, we’ll talk about t’Parthok.” He nodded at the Kheinsa and then strode away towards his office.
~~~~

“Are you sure that --”

“Ie, positive.” t’Ksa scowled drumming her fingers on the desk before her.

“Very menkha, as au wish.” Velal nodded his head. He paused to take a sip from his mug, regretting that it was na brew of strong ale instead of herbal tea. Perhaps he should have tr’Aieme evaluate t’Ksa for megalomaniac tendencies. It would almost be a joy to dump or rather transfer her off to the Kheinsa. Let her vex him for a while. “In the meantime, our mental health division would like to lend their support to au and au’s crew for grief counseling. I’m going to transfer au’s transmission into their care.” He smiled slightly as he tapped the commands into his etrehh.

“That’s na necessary, Rekkhai.” He heard the Daise’Erei’Riov protest.

“Oh, but I insist.” He smiled once again. “Bedah, t’Ksa. Safe travels.” He nodded once more before his visage disappeared and tr’Aieme’s appeared on the screen.

“Morgana t’Ksa, what the HNAEV is going on?!?”
