Na Again.......

L’haiy watched as the screen went to black, and leaned back in the high-backed leather chair, placing her hands behind her head, and taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. After a siuren, she finally exhaled and opened her eyes, beginning to feel calm for the first time since they had spoken two weeks ago, when he had snapped at her.

She had agonized over it at first, on how she had disappointed him, which was frustrating because she had been so careful, so very careful with everything else, had stayed out of sight, and then just this one small error in judgement. She had assumed she would be safe in a hospital with an armed detachment. So much for assumptions. Na more assumptions. Na again.

She had na been sleeping well, trying to determine how she could rectify the situation with him. What had upset her the most, had been the momentary flashback to her past, remembering how N’Vrak would snap at her in his anger and the back of his hand upside her head after they had lost their son, and how much their relationship had changed at that point. Not again.

Var’lon was right, she should know better. She must listen to those around her more and seek their advice, na be so hardheaded. She remembered she had received two communications from the Talon, she would start there, and read them. She had intended to ignore them, but she would learn from this. She needed to learn from the incident with Laehval, and again at the hospital. She would na make that mistake again. Not again.

She would na endanger Var’lon’s son, and she would na let something like that change him as well. She loved him to much to hurt him, and told herself, that she would do whatever he asked of her. But she would keep his son safe. She had na intention of losing this one, though there was nothing she could have done in Bartram’s case. Not again.

Already missing him, she reached over to touch the screen, as if willing him to reappear. He had apologized to her, and it had been all she could have hoped for. A momentary lapse, that was all, she was sure of it. She had known him for years, she also knew he had a tremendous temper for those that failed and did not follow orders, those that were disloyal. But she had never seen him mad at a her, na once. Na through all the trials, the Inquisitions, never. She intended to na disappoint him again. Not again.
