I think the focus initially was on WMD, although I now admit Saddam's dictatorship did play a minor role, but later shifted completely away from WMD and moved entirely to Saddam.

Hey there,

This is true. But again, the standing theory now is that the Bush Administration lied about the WMDs. We haven't found any yet and thus it's a lie.

Well, when you give someone four month's notice that your going to come in to look for them, I would assume it'd be possible to hide them/move them/destroy them. Even more, it took five years to capture some fugative in the North Carolina mountains. I don't think it's too unreasonable to assume it'll take months of not years to search a country the size of Califnoria (saying they all weren't relocated out of the country).

Though it should be every country's duty to try to better the world we live in, it is no country's job to be a police or a watchdog. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Hey there,

Perhaps. While I don't like the United States acting as the world's police force, it does force another question. Who's going to do it? China? The EU?

The European Union tried to deal with the Kosovo conflict in the Balkins. The result? Within two years of their engagement, the United States entered the conflict.

While it is no one country's place to act as the world police or world watchdog, when your the most powerful nation on the world you do seem to have a giant bullseye painted on you. You'd rather have conflicts solved when their small ant hills vs large volcanos because you know that if it errupts, there's a good chance someone's going to ask for you to get involved. ::shrugs::

Just my thoughts about California's next governor...I live in California and I'm sorry to say but this recall is ridiculous. I can understand that Gray Davis "failed" to perform his task as governor of CA. However, that doesn't mean we have to redo an election. This is absolutely pointless. I mean, can people guarantee that the next governor is going to be better than him? No one knows. We are wasting $66 million dollars to have a porn star and a child-actor-turn-security-guard and a erotic magazine publisher to make a fool out of the citizen of California. I can't take this election seriously when an owner of a dog wanted to gather 10,000 signatures so that it can run for governor. I can think of many ways to spend that $66 million dollars. This is completely unfair to the students who have to pay a much higher tuition because the state is withholding money. It's completely unfair to the students who are denied financial aids because the state budget is cut. It is complete unfair to the people who VOTED in the first election. This is a recall! The people who didn't vote gave up on removing Gray Davis during the his re-election in 2002. Shouldn't only the people who voted the first time have a say in this recall election? Anyway, I'm not trying to ###### off everyone by saying that Gray Davis is right or something else is wrong. It's just that I'm just not comfortable with this recall idea.   :D

I've heard people bring up the point that the recall is going to cost X amount of money.  I'd like to know where the outcry is for the money that's taken from our checks from a week to week basis.  I can think of many more credible places for that money to go, than to the Federal Government of the United States.  :D

Folks,

Let's remember ourselves here, I've had to delete some posts today from this topic.  I'm all for a reasoned discussion of topics that are not straight Trek or STSF, but please remember not to attack others' viewpoints, post inappropriate comments or any advertising for a candidate (i.e. don't say, "Hey, here's a link to Arnold's website, it's so cool, check it out!")

Thanks.

I think people will vote for Arnold because, well he's a person that more then half of Califonia knows and cause I think he would be a good governor.
