Madness

Madness

A Personal log by Dr. Victor Images

Why in the name of all that is holy does the station seem to go insane the moment I turn my back? The ship seems to be somewhat of a social war zone. With a new science chief from Cardassia being insulted by Mogg and Mogg being put on trial I can see cracks in the crew are going to form. Mogg will be battling for his career and the sides are going to be drawn up. Those wanting Mogg to be cleared (mostly his mates) and those wanting him to get what he could deserve (mostly the command staff who have a duty). The ones who are going to suffer the most in this are poor sods like me who have to just stand by and watch.

By asking around, or should I say nosing around, I think I know most of what happened. Mogg and the scientist, Mr. Zog Gabrel engaged in some petty verbal blows in the control tower. This name calling session ended when Mogg committed a prank, diverting power away from Gabrel’s console. Something like this would be frowned upon on it’s own but what has made things worse is the fact that it occurred during the station’s highly important move (A move that I am still getting used to).

I would think that this kind of situation could be resolved easily by simple apologies and handshakes but two obstacles stand in the way. Starfleet protocol and bad blood. The former could possibly be bypassed but the latter cannot. Mogg seems to have a lot of hate for Gabrel and I don’t know why. Whatever the reason if this all does goes to court, which I’m pretty sure it will now, it will be up to Mogg and his attorney (who will likely be Muon he tells me) to try to prove one of these three things.

1. There was proper cause for Mogg’s actions

2. Mogg is deeply apologetic and remorseful for what he did

3. It was a deeply rooted psychological problem Mogg could not control (They would need Dr. Jones to prove it)

His attorney will have to be good, very good.

I’m just totally bewildered. I came back to Aegis feeling so happy and contented from my conference but it’s all gone sour. And not from anything huge, just because of a few misplaced words. But as most people know, words and thoughts can sometimes hurt far more then actions.  However, speaking frankly, it really is none of my business, which means that all I can do is get to work, wait for this to pass and hope for the best outcome…oh and kick some holodeck ninja arse.
