Mass Effect FemShep

Like other 'Mass Effect' gamers here at STSF, I've put in many, many, many (many) hours on the Mass Effect RPG games. They'll back me up when I say you won't find a more classic sci fi entry, complete with heroes and villians, moral decisions, plenty of action, and lots of stuff in between!

The quoted article is a blurb on the results of a Facebook 'Mass Effect' poll for the better half of the male protagonist of the game, Commander Shepard.

As I recall, I voted for blond and then the redhead. While it's pretty cool for 'Female Shepard' to get her own official look rather then the in game default character, it doesn't matter in the long run due to in game player customization options. That's my opinion, mind.

I can also attest to the fact that some of the fan comment feedback was a little hot -- people do love their opinions, especially when they can mouth off -- with accusations towards BioWare of just doing their own thing with the final decision. Then you had other commenters (mostly male) who refuse to recognize the female version of Shepard as well as female gamers in general. I've also spotted comments that complain that the new FemShep looks too young to be 29-31 years of age - her official age(s) in the first two ME games.

As with Mass Effect 1 & 2, the upcoming ME 3 will allow a custom female -- or male -- Commander Shepard....and I dunno about y'all, but I've always gone with my custom Commander FemShep.

::thumbs up:: I can't wait to kick some Reaper tail!!

Ginger power! 'Mass Effect 3' commander goes redhead

It's official: Redheads have more fun. Or at least, they get to kick more Reaper butt.

After months of listening to fan input, famed game developer BioWare has announced that the official female version of Commander Shepard will be a fire-red ginger for its forthcoming "Mass Effect 3" game.

That's right, the blond FemShep never stood a chance.

Commander Shepard is the heroic star of the epic and much-loved "Mass Effect" games. Throughout the trilogy, gamers are given the opportunity to play the character as a man or a woman. But while the male version of Shepard has received all the publicity in recent years, it's the female version of the commander (lovingly referred to as FemShep) who has been not-so-quietly growing in popularity.

BioWare and publisher EA have taken note and decided to give the lady space hero more face-time as they gear up to launch "Mass Effect 3" on March 6, 2012. But to do that, they had to settle on an official look for her.

After not one but two rounds of vigorously debated polling on Facebook, the franchise's many fans helped select first her facial structure and now her hair color. The redheaded news was announced at the Penny Arcade Expo with Jennifer Hale — the actress responsible for the awesome FemShep voice acting — in attendance.

The final results broke down like this:

Blond FemShep: 5,434 votes

Brunette FemShep: 5,573 votes

Black-haired FemShep: 12,834 votes

Redhead FemShep FTW!: 19,571 votes

"I want to say a huge thank you to everybody out there who plays FemShep who spoke up and said 'we want to see FemShep,'" Hale told the cheering audience as the results were announced. "You have no idea what that means to me."

Keep your eyes peeled for the new FemShep who will be appearing in future marketing materials, on the collector's edition box art and in her very own "Mass Effect 3" trailer.

Oh and ... power to the gingers!

It is interesting to note that not only was the blonde beaten by the red-head, blonde was in fact the *least* favorite selection.

It would seem that the fan priority for 'FemShep' falls in this order:

Hot & Firey

Dark & Striking

Serious & Formal

Bright & Bubble-headed

I'm pretty sure, based on her dialogue, that a bubbly-looking FemShep would be *extremely* jarring. :P

Absolutely!

Though, I've managed to get my current FemShep to look about eighty percent like myself. *Thats* jarring when you have voice actor Jennifer Hales (CDR Shepard, female) voice coming out of quote your mouth, know what I mean?

The character, both M/F, I'd classify as a natural born officer and leader - gets the job done, no matter if you choose the Paragon or Renegade paths.
