Laarell -> Excalibur: Fine. ::essentially giving up:: We'll just do your method and give up trying to help the people at ground zero. We'll just try to guess-timate where the seismic activity is going to hit next and get ahead of the water drain.

Fae -> Excalibur: I've also been trying to make sense of the science problem... without a lot of success.

Laarell -> Excalibur: +Admiran+ They should have deep-probe mining equipment to pump in some water into the aquifers in those areas.

Fae -> Excalibur: Like.... normally water near active lava magma becomes steam... Builds up lots of pressure.

Fae -> Excalibur: I don't know if you're familiar with a volcano on Earth called krakatoa? Blows up big time once every some odd centuries. Noise is loud enough to be heard all the way around the world.

Fae -> Excalibur: Lots of energy involved, but this seems different somehow.

Laarell -> Excalibur: +Tandaris+ I have the algorithm loaded here. There are probably about five points on the nearby aquifers that we'll need to pump water into, from what I am seeing.

Laarell -> Excalibur: Oh, yes. Tandaris did. ::taking no credit:: He has decided the best course of action is to mostly abandon rehab efforts at the rift valley, and back-pump water into the aquifers in the nearest systems to try to keep the chain reaction from spreading.

Laarell -> Excalibur: He's talking to a mining official he has down there to see what their equipment can do to help.

Joker Morgan -> Excalibur: ::makes slight helm adjustments to keep in the predetermined orbit::

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: ::hears this all over the commlink, and crinkles his face into something resembling disappointment and anger, with a touch of resignation::

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: ::has a very crinkly face::

Maryse Dubois -> Excalibur: ::Sighs as she looks at the number of patients treated for burns. Makes a note to check current supplies.::

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: ::G'Her:: Listen, G'Hain, I know you are way out of your depth. The scary thing is, I'm actually not, and believe me, that makes me more afraid than I would be if I were.

Laarell -> Excalibur: ::shrugs:: I still think that essentially abandoning the people in the valley -- and their homes and the plants -- is a poor idea, but at the moment, his plan seems... viable.

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: ::G'Her:: I know you are only a facility manager. But you are all I've got right now. People down there will die—well, people will die anyway. More people will die that we can save if we can pull off a madcap scheme. And that will only happen if you can be a hero.

Rue Wydown -> Excalibur: @Well, I just fibbed to one of my people. I'm going to a very warm place for that. ::looking over the status boards::

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: G'her> They valley... ::he made a gestures that seemed to look like a V as he talked:: is the only place with enough water to support the crops that we need to have life like we have had. You cannot expect us to to just... leave that can you? How do I.. and mere facility manager tell my people what to do?

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: Well, we'll build you a new valley.

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: The old one must have been getting cramped anyway. Not to mention its recent penchant for fatal quakes.

Laarell -> Excalibur: Either try to protect the valley, specifically, or focus on the problems that will arise if the issue spreads...

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: Well we've shut the power plants down, right?

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: ::attempting to listen to Laarell's conversation and deal with G'Her at the same time::

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: ::blinks at G'Her:: Your valley is a lost cause. We could try to save it, but if we fail, your entire planet could be doomed.

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: Does Tandaris think he can fix the problem with the systems so that it won't suck the water out like a wet/dry vac?

Tandaris Admiran -> Excalibur: If we save your planet, we can work out the little details like arable land afterward. It's a bagatelle.

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: G'her> But in moving us again, you will be doing the same thing to us the Dominion did... don't you see?

Rue Wydown -> Excalibur: @The confort stations are doing well to keep track of the population who's checked in. We'll need to make sure that there is appropriate security around food stores, just so we don't have additional looting in those areas.

Laarell -> Excalibur: I... assume so...

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: That's the first question we have. The second is doing a .. quick and dirty .. model for if we do notrhing else.

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: We need to be able to tell them what will happen, not just make doomsday predictions.

Laarell -> Excalibur: Gods, quite a lot. We're only just started to see what the quakes can do.

Cptn Swain -> Excalibur: Then we need to be able to give these people options.
