Character Intro: Dr. Anika Peirce

Anika was frustrated.  She had been on the USS Arcadia for a few days now and she was still no quicker at finding her quarters; tonight it had taken her a little more than 45 min to search for them.  Maybe it was because she hadn’t had the chance to focus on where her quarters might actually be, or maybe it was just because the ship was that big (it was after all, Sovereign Class).

Anika did know she would have to get quicker at getting around the ship.  No if, ands, or buts...it put her at a disadvantage to not know the ship.  Not to mention, it was time consuming, and just plain annoying: it made her feel as if she had no control.  And if there was one thing Anika liked most, it was being in control of the situations she was in.  It was that amount of control that enhanced her career and brought her to where she was now.

She hadn’t always wanted to go into to trauma though—she had originally pursued a career in research, but as she continued she quickly learned complete control of the variables was not enough for her.  Anika needed change; she thrived on it!  It wasn’t long before her friends and teachers began to direct her to the field of medicine, and once she learned more about it, she couldn’t get enough.  Soon afterwards, she was quickly mesmerized (much to the dismay of others) by the world of trauma.  So she kept with it, never getting bored of trauma (which was unusual for Anika), but only more excited by the possibilities.

...And now here she was on her first starship, her first mission, ready to make her first log...
