Dear Muter,

It'll probably be another few days for the Republic to arrive in Earth, but I just wanted to let you know how I was doing. And I am sorry I never wrote to you before, but I didn't have the time until now. You see, we had just finished this strange mission that I still don't really know alot about, so I would appreciate it if you not ask me about it, because I won't have any good answers for you. However, I did get to put my shuttle piloting skills to practise flying shuttles on three different instances.  But as the Republic heads back to Earth for a well earned shore-leave, Rear Admiral BluRox -- the ship's Commanding Officer, decided to assign us to completly rennovate each other's quarters. However, myself and another ensign named Chase were exempt from this, and instead we both were to be the carpenters and build new furniture.  I'm not surprised by that, since I did help build Uncle Franz' barn in Freiburg. (Located in the Black Forest). However, putting up wooden posts and a roof, are in stark contrast to building something ornate like a Celtic rocking chair and British style bar.  But judging my the impressed look of Rear Admiral BluRox, I assume the experience paid off. The intention of the project was to interact with crew I normally would whilst on duty.  Though I did make some new friends, like Medical Officer Dox Maturin, Chse Flannery -- I forget what position he was, amonst some others, most of the time I was with BluRox.  Even though it was quite intimidating working with my commanding officer, I do feel that I feel closer to her than before. Even though she isn't a big fan of weiner schnitzel, having an officer throw it away before I could eat it. But they say Caitians have 5-10 times better sense of smell than humans.  Hmm, I wonder if she went into my quarters then.. someone did.  I do regret forgetting to discard my dinner of weiner schnitzel and sourkraut I had eaten 4 days ago.  That is one trait we share, mother.  Forgetting little things like that. Anyways, I still have not seen my quarters yet, I am still not allowed to enter it.  I am writing this from the mess hall because I haven't eaten all day. Before you write back scolding me for not doing so, I must tell you that I didn't have the time because of my projects, and the fact that my diner got tossed. Oh well, BluRox doesn't know what she's missing. I do miss your home-cooked weiner schnitzel. The replicated stuff I am eating now pales in comparison. But, enough about me. How are you holding up, mother? I hope you are fine, and you are doing well in your new post.  I think this is what you wanted, and I hope it is, and keeps you happy.  But, I also hope the girls are adjusting.. I can't wait to see them as well.  Margrethe is starting grade school, right? They grow up so fast, I feel so old.  But, she'll adjust I know it.  Margrethe is like me, as she also adjusts quickly to new sorroundings and situations.  Definate potential as a Starfleet Officer.  Well.. it looks like I've been called into some meeting, so at this time I shall bid you adeiu. Send my regards and best wishes to the girls for me, and to father even though I haven't been able to contact him. He must be to busy capitaning his new ship. All love to you and the girls.  I can't wait to see you all in person again, it's been too long. So until we get back to Earth, auf vetersein! I love and miss you all!

Sincereley,

Hans.
