The Manticore was about to leave the Badlands after destroying a dozen secret Federation probes left in this strange area of space, having given up the Wyvern and its crew for lost following an explosion of the probe and (it seemed) the Wyvern itself. After some phaser fire and comm signals found their way out of the void where the damaged Wyvern floats, Manticore has since sent a tethered probe out. The probe has disappeared from regualr space and is now floating in the Wyvern's "pocket of space," still attached to the tether.
