Audraya knelt in front of her father's grave marker, the breeze beginning to tear the fog away. She leaned forward and wiped away some of the grime that started accumulating. "Hi Dad. I know its been quite awhile, but we're out on the Rim. Border Patrol doesn't exactly get back into Earth Sector very often. No, its not like we can just drop in any time we want. Yes, I know. But we've been busy. The Cartels are taking advantage of the chaos caused by Nero. And, while I probably shouldn't mention this, but there've been some sort of power struggle within the Starfleet itself. I'm as shocked as you are. I figured on dealing with Romulans and Klingons and Orions ((oh my!)), but Starfleet? The very organization chartered to defend and uphold the Charter of the Federation? Its unreal.

 

"So, enough about work. I've been seeing someone again, a cute young brunette. You're probably going to want to come down and kick my ass, but its our communications officer. We're really into each other, and I'm happy again, and I think she's really happy with it too."

 

Smoothly, she moved out of her seiza position. "I need to go, I'm catching the transcontinental transporter in 20 minutes, to go see Mom and the boys. I'll send them your love."
