What are your hobbies?

::grabs the mic, realizing they turned it off on me... grabs the other mic:: Well, HD has several hobbies. Where to begin? Anywhere.

Of course, I like Trek. But, away from that...

I play tennis. It's one of my favorite past times, present times, and chances are, it will be a future times. I've been playing for years, and have always enjoyed it. Actually, I made it 3 rounds at the high school state tournament this year - not bad for a country boy. heh heh

I've always been active in our local church youth for several years. With both Winter Blitz and NewSong every year, it keeps us occupied for the most part. Both of these events are wonderful. That, and Camp Loucon is a good 10 minute drive from the church. Retreats and whatnot occur every once in a while for us, and those are always fun.

History is a huge hobby of mine. The European History AP is one of my favorite classes, along with World Civ. If only my memory was better... hehe. I can tell you just about anything about a famous historical person or place, but I can never remember names and dates. Sure, 1215 was the Magna Carta and 1066 was the Battle of Hastings... but ask me when Henry IV was excommunicated and I'd draw a blank. I could tell you why though. :)

Television is also a great thing. My nightly lineup usually goes "King of the Hill", "The Simpsons", "King of the Hill", and then "Star Trek". On Sundays, throw "Malcom in the Middle" and "Futurama" in there, and you've got that one complete.

Engineering and physics are also a fun thing for me. I bought "The Physics of Star Trek" a few days ago, and so far have loved it.

So, I enjoy... interesting things. But, oh well.

HD has an interesting life... I guess. heh heh

I loved my European History AP class.  I still remember the question for the final exam.  "Outline the history of Europe from the Enlightenment to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and don't leave anything out. :)"

Funny note on 1066, the battle of Hastings, before my girlfriend and I started courting, one of the tests she had to pass with my father was to correctly identify the year 1066 and its signifigance.  Thankfully...she passed.  :)

::gleefully smiles about Americans studying the rich tapestry that is British history::  :)

Oh i wish i was still taking history, i had to drop it when i had too many humanities subjects. It's quite annoying because i've always been a big fan of it. I used to be the nerd who pointed out historical facts to anyone who came near, now it's all fading away AAAAAAAAAGH!

I will never forget being in a World history class, arguing with my professor over BCE and CE vs. BC and AD. He refused to become enlightened. It only got worse when we started on british history...

the teacher i always argued with was definitely in my philosophy and Religous studies class. Yep she REALLY hated me! I remember her final line of defeat, "It doesn't matter if it doesn't make any damn sense!" Ah, what wisdom.

::takes her place on the dias::

I was thrilled to see another cheesehead from Minnesota!  Hobbies ... well obviously this ranks as one of them and I do enjoy writing.

I'm an outdoors kinda girl.  I love to hike.  I spend hours in my gardens (now that I have a yard again) and enjoy landscaping.

I also race in triathlons (swim/bike/run).  Sprint distance (don't go all nutso thinking Ironman -- oy) triathlons are my normal race, although I'd like to try a duathlon (run/bike/run) in the near future.

I've recently started taking lessons in ballroom dance -- Rumba, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz and LOVE it.  Now that the boxes are all unpacked I need to find a studio to continue my lessons.

Does ShoreLeave count as a hobby?  I do it every year, have the most incredible time [usually embarrass myself in photos] and look forward to the next years gathering -- soon as I've caught up on my sleep from the previous year shindig.

Oh and shoes ... I really don't have all that many; however, I do love to look look look   :)

Your highness, the IRS aren't auditing us at the moment you can tell them about the swimming pool of sandals and the mansion of stilletos.

I'm very into activism and try to help out various organizations

This sounds interesting! What kind of things have you done?

I recently did an internet 'blogathon', getting donations for the Global Fund for Women. I am very into Amnesty International and I write a LOT of letters every month. I am always leaving flyers and little notes everywhere around my town. I always participate in the March of Dimes walk here. And I always try to get my workplace and co-workers into various charity things as well. I'm so into many different causes.. it's hard to list them all here. :) Who knows, maybe we could talk one on one about it one day.
