Do cats have 9 lives? Drone Attack.

Zaphod sat behind the large rock, drinking a water pack from his mess kit and trying to catch his breath. He looked over at Sal Rosetto. Damn fool, he thought. Sal had made a very foolhardy decision purposefully getting the drones attention. But, it had garnered the landing party loads of information about the drones. The drones could detect power signatures, Zaphod had figured that out when they first approached. But, the drones could also hear. Sal had proved that when he whistled loudly at them. Selek, Pher, Chris, and Zaphod had attracted the drone's interest by talking. The foolhardy thing Zaphod was worried about was that Sal had run after one of the drones and even touched it. Zaphod had even debated powering up his phaser and stunning the human, but he knew that would have definitely gotten them all killed. Damn scientists, anything to prove a point. But, Zaphod did respect him for his actions. They now knew more about the scanners and drones than they did before they landed. If the landing party stayed quiet, and kept their devices powered down, the drones would leave them alone. Zaphod did not want to die on this dead hunk of rock. He had overheard Pher laughing with Chris at the bottom of the cliff, asking him how many lives he thought Zaphod had left. He grinned to himself. If that old Earth cat myth was true, Zaphod figured he may just be on his last life after the drone attack. He was beginning to like this Orion more and more. It wasn't because of the fact that she was an Orion female, and had the infamous Orion "man attracting" glandular secretions. Caitians were immune to them. Though, Zaphod was half Human, and did have the appropriate receptors. Zaphod was gaining respect for Pher. She was fearless and strong. He was beginning to actually like and respect this crew. They were all misfits like himself. Yet, were all loyal to each other and to their ship. Once the drones had left the area, they dropped over the cliff towards the water. Zaphod was worried about the shuttle. But, he figured if the planetary sensors couldn't see the shuttle under water, they sensors on the drones couldn't either. Zaphod stood, enjoyed a cat stretch, and shouldered his bat'leth. He ran a claw across the blade. He didn't want to chip the blade cutting those worthless drones in half. But, he would if he had too. He was so glad Byblos had suggested he bring it. Now that they knew their phasers would be detected, his blades were his only means of defense. Zaphod finished his water. Then walked over to the rest of the landing party to prepare to move out.
