Zaphod_the_spacebum

I'd rather be fishing.

Zaphod stretched his muscles. He hadn't climbed a rock face in years. When he was in the colony with Diklit's people, he had climbed the rocks behind their colony to gather the eggs of a large predatory bird (they made excellent omelettes). The swim from the shuttle hadn't been too bad. He had pumped a bit more oxygen into the airlock, then flooded it. He was amazed at the job they had done on the pumps. It had only taken about 8 seconds to pump the water into the back of the shuttle. He opened the hatch, and they had all swam through. After everyone had left the shuttle, Zaphod sealed the hatch and pumped the water from the airlock remotely. When they returned after the mission, he would reverse the process. While they were swimming to shore, he had kept an eye out for any large fish. But, they had only seen schools of smaller more tropical fish. Not the man eating kind. When they climbed up on the beach, they made sure all had made it. Then, looked to the rock face of the fjord. It looked like a fairly easy climb. But, he was experienced. Some of the others might not be. He and Selek had volunteered to climb first, with Selek setting the anchors needed for the rope. Selek climbed ahead and Zaphod followed,, free climbing. Selek set the anchors to a large tree, and rappeled down to help the others. He belayed Selek and the other climbers as they worked their way to the top. they all did really well. Once on top, they prepared to explore the planet. Selek suggested they leave the climbing rig just in case they had to beat a hasty retreat back to the shuttle. As he stood doing Tai Chi to stretch his tired aching muscles, Zaphod pondered the mission ahead. So far they had been lucky. The sensors from the towers, and the roving gangs of drones hadn't spotted them. He hoped their luck held.
