Byblos

"Negotiating Tools"

Log takes place right after last week's sim.

Byblos looked down at the corpse that was the Merc leader. He could not recall his name at the moment, just the fact that a remote detonator had dropped from Merc's hand after his failed attempt to decapitate the Merc with all his might.

"Stupid Qoh!" Byblos could only yell at himself through his O2 mask. He was furious he failed to consider the leader would have a bomb switch. He plunged his sword in anger into the abdomen of the dead Merc, half expected the ship to blow up at the same time.

But nothing happened....

Byblos looked around ...and saw Pher behind him. He thought he must of been looked like an uncontrolled monster to Pher. Shame and disgust rushed over him. He could only muster a few words to his superior...through the O2 mask.

"Pher...a device..near his right hand ..I am sorry. I jyked up. A detonator!"

"Not to worry," Pher responded to Byblos before spinning back to eye the hostages and captives. "William! One of the local crewman was likely working with the raiders. See if you can figure out which one and secure him! Byblos and I will be heading for the control room. There are two more raiders there."

She turned back to Byblos. "Not to worry. You're a male from a warrior culture. You get jyked up. You all get jyked up. The question is whether you get jyked up in a useful way." She smiled, blowing him a kiss. "Now if I could just get you jhked up in a useful way when we're off shift. Don't worry about the detonator. Ethan, Shane and everybody handled that. Bomb is taken out." Pher added a silent "I hope" to that.

She stooped to pick up the detonator. Showing the two remaining raiders that their bomb was out might contribute to any negotiations. She looked up at the big guy. She'd have to talk with him soon, but right now she was in a hurry. "Can you think of anything that should be done before containing the last two raiders?

Byblos felt like a ton of tritanium was lifted off of him upon hearing Pher's reply. "Oh, I can think of one right of the top of my head"

The bloodstained Nausicaan extracted his blade from Merc's abdomen and promptly finished what he failed to do first. He removed the Merc leader's biosuit helmet, took his COMM unit, tricorder ,weapon; finally he dispatched of Diklyt's head.

Byblos stood with the Merc's head in his hand like only a Nausicaan would.. wincing a bit with his own leg wound. "This might come in handy unnerving the remaining raiders. Although I imagine the Boss is not going to approve of my 'professionalism.'" Byblos chuckled waving the grizzly object in his left hand.

"Need to retrieve Audrey?" The Blood soaked Nausicaan asked...

"Don't think I can," Pher replied. "Joe thinks the remaining raiders might mess up ship's systems. If so, Audrey is our hook to countermand." Pher vanished her pistol, picked up her long gun, and started... somewhere. She turned to Byblos. "You know how to find the bridge? If you don't, see if you can get Shane to give directions."

"I'll find the bridge Pher, and boss-head here hopefully will get the Mercs on the bridge spooked!" Byblos shouted as the Orion begun running down the deck. "Fear can be a powerful weapon," Byblos said looking at Diklyt's head at arm's length and his tricorder which showed the ship's layout by luck.

The Nausicaan ran the best he could with a limp in search of an equipment hatch for a few more "things" on the way to the bridge, leaving the rest of Diklyt behind for the inevitable clean up the Boss would have him do.
