A Familiar Presence

A Familiar Presence

The figure's pace and bearing drew her attention, but it could be familiar for a number of reasons. An air of confidence, definitely. A determined nature. No swagger, meaning he knew his limitations and had no delusions of grandeur. He walked through the midway crowds much as she would - constant awareness of his surroundings. He sat close enough to exits for easy access but not so close as to appear he might need one.

The cloak? Many cloaked when on-station, not so much for anonymity as for privacy, and some for convenience. Stations had a habit of changing temperature suddenly to suit a species' needs; a cloak was helpful and certainly easier than carrying a blanket.

Director Torak's priority one could have come at a more convenient time. Say, a bit sooner? Before the red alert? And he had furnished several security records of a person of similar height, weight, and bearing, all resembling the same person, but nothing that pointed to exact identification. So why the priority one?

She pulled the APB that had come through several weeks before.

Roberts was initially brought to heel in a fleet action in the Caer Bannog system, but escaped Starfleet Security custody aboard a SOCOM registered light freighter, the Wild Stallion, headed for neutral space from Rhydin Sector.

He has been seen in the company of a former member of the Bajoran Resistance, Teryn Jaksa, possibly running contraband and supplies from the Baham star system into Cardassian space.

Roberts is considered to be armed, and extremely dangerous.

She raised a brow, one hand stroking her chin thoughtfully. The APB did not match the Intel reports, especially reports from her informants. Word was he was more of a privateer than a pirate, but then a fine line existed between the two. Wild Stallion? Al'Thor was Roberts? Possible. But what was he going to do - hijack the station?

At the moment she had bigger fish to fry. Al'Thor had been helpful so far. For the moment she would count him an asset - especially with his SOCOM freighter - which could have easily been bought after passing through the wash several times. She'd watch him carefully and make a threat assessment from her own observations. Perhaps over coffee and brioche on the Promenade? At least he had good taste.

Yes.

Oh wait...did I say that out loud?
