Captain's Personal Log

Stardate 0308.06

Captain Fred Michaels

Fred glanced around Sickbay for a moment. For a change, the room was not filled with thirty or forty people all busy attempting to get assistance...perhaps even give it. Instead, the room was quite...a drastic change to the way it had been but only a week or so earlier. As the Captain took a few steps forward, he noticed Doctor Matthews discussing something with Nurse Grace Allen.

Michaels had already been in Sickbay once before, several days earlier. Now, he was back to try and learn anything else he could about what had happened to his Chief of Security. While the Captain did held a concern for everyone on the ship, this situation was somewhat different and for reasons most did not comprehend. As Fred slowly leaned against the wall, waiting for the Doctor to finish, he sighed softly and started to remember why.

Outside of being a member of his senior staff, J'untar Shamor had been an officer Michaels had known since the Zemun had been in the Academy. Over the years, Fred had come to find the man to be a dependable and loyal person. This relationship had developed to the point that the Captain had a hard time keeping himself from calling his Chief of Security by a nickname is used age ago, pilot. The name itself seemed simple enough, but had come to Shamor after his exceptionable ability to helm small shuttles and fighters.

Throughout his career, Fred had seen many trusted friends come and go. Though many he maintained contact with, other's had faded into the abyss as retirement took over their lives. Yet, with the exception of one other person aboard, the Captain had not personally known anyone who served aboard the Reaent longer than the First Lieutenant. When the need had arose for a security chief aboard Fred's new assignment, the first choice had been a simple one.

But now, much to the dismay of the Captain, his long time associate had required medical attention for no apparent reason. As Doctor Matthews finished her conversation, Fred took a few steps forward. "Doctor, we need to talk....", he said softly.
