"Jigsaws"

Fiona Weber let out a long sigh, wearily depositing herself back into her comfortable office chair. One moment, she was overseeing Jax and her seemingly eternal pregnancies. Then she was scolding the Caitian for something or another -- or being given the obvious brushoff by the cat, who seemed to forget that she held the power of painkillers aboard the Republic. Or she was dealing with an overactive hologram who seemed to get a thrill out of throwing her non-existent weight around her Sickbay.

Oh, and then Romulans started showing up outside the ship. And Romulans started showing up in odd places on the bloody ship, where it seemed likely that they were poisoning or assaulting or murdering the Caitian... or somehow otherwise acting nefariously. Fiona didn't care for it at all.

She didn't care for the fact that she had been entirely left out of the loop on this whole "voyage through the Neutral Zone" ordeal, as well as the "let's have a new friend aboard!" nonsense. While there was a part of her that was very, very happy to be being kept out of the whole messy business, she also did not appreciate that medical was kept busy with the menial labor -- like dealing with children, of all things -- while the rest of the bloody ship went into Romulan mode. The least information possible had been relayed down to her, and even their objective was still murky... There were few things that Fiona liked less than not knowing what was going on aboard her own starship.

Muttering, she redirected her attention from her annoyance at the current state of affairs back to the Admiral's condition. There were two distinct possibilities, each equally likely, in her opinion. One, and the one that a large part of her wanted to side with, was that that Romulan skulking about the ship -- unsupervised, of all things -- had done something to the Caitian. She wouldn't put it past their scheming little minds to do something dishonorable aboard the ship, and they really had no reason not to take advantage of the incredible opportunity that the ship had provided to them -- wandering around a Starfleet vessel without so much as an escort was just begging for trouble of the green and cold-blooded kinds.

The other possibility required that the cat had been lying to the medical staff, also an unsurprising result. She tended to be obstinate when it came to dealing with Weber and her people -- any doctors, actually -- and seemed especially stubborn when it came to these ongoing headaches and head injuries. Once again, the Caitian seemed hellbent on not doing what was necessary to get herself healthy, and if Fiona found out that she collapsed as a result of it, she had every intention of pulling medical's perogative and taking her off duty until she'd had some sense hypo'd into her -- whether Holly or even Blu herself complained. She wasn't any use to the ship when she was lolling around half-conscious, and even potentially dangerous, especially in respect to her decision-making abilities... like letting Romulans aboard, uncaged.

Fiona stood, tossing aside a padd of inconclusive results and stalked back out into main Sickbay, resting against her cane while she stood by the admiral's bedside. "Wake her up," she ordered, waiting while Margrave found the right hypo to bring the Caitian back to consciousness. "It's time we had some answers."
