For example, ST: TOS had itsy bitsy storage disks of information and communicators...we know have floppy diskettes, CD, and cell phones that flip too

Floppy disks? CDs? Cell phones? Man...get out of the past!

Go buy a 100GB mem card, pop in a DVD, and make your calls on your PDA Satellite phone.

now YOU'RE living in the past, i can hear music and radio shows in my head!

Be warned..hide your toast.

Not much I can do about it -- this was actually from the first complete plot I played with Arc... almost a year ago.  Before Republic was an STSF sim.

A little history here to set things straight.

Actually, the USS Republic is one of the oldest sims that was in the simming group that all the current sims came over from. However, we were delayed in moving to STSF due to scheduling room difficulties. Basically, the Maniticore and the Repubic both simed at 11:00 pm EST in our old group, yet there was only one simming room available to us here. As Atragon was instrumental in the creation of this forum, the command staff of the Republic graciously acquiessed the room to the Admiral and his crew for the outstanding work he had put in, in short...he did the leg work, he deserved the room.

In the meantime, the Republic had to wait until the second simming room could be created, and thus, the ship stayed where it was for the time being, but the command staff of the Republic, have been here from the start, running the Academy sim immediatley prior to the Manitore.

The toast incidents, go back to at least 1994 when I joined the ship, and I believe started around 1993 with Errinna, Peel and Kraf. I'll have to consult one of the former admirals on that.  And, many of the current hosts, have at one time or another....served aboard the Rep (once also known as the "Love Boat" - I'm glad we stamped that out!).

See....even Fred remembers 'Holly'!!  But.....Shhh, Holly's a secret.

Nothing really to set straight.  Mine was a rather straightforward comment that a [relatively new] STSF-er would have had no way of knowing about the goings-on of an old SFOL sim that hadn't transitioned yet.

As for Holly... who's Holly?

I used to try real techno-babble. Had the encyclopedia in front of me and everything. Guess what? I am not a nerd and it just wouldn't stick. So... I gave up. I follow the Moose school of thought... create your own. :)

One thing I did learn was that using real techno babble can confuse the heck out of the non techno people. But made up techno babble usually makes more sense to people.
