Changes and Challenges

Reports were standard back to the homeworld on Rihan. General reports about the medical mess and prior thefts thanks to the Deosi were included. However, this regular update included details about public knowledge items surrounding Ambassador Drankum’s exit, and the new Captain Cooper’s entrance. The RSE had to be kept apprised of who he was assigned to, and where their officers were co-coordinating efforts. This station remained an interest to Romulan Command.

Torate was very good at dispensing these regular reports in duplicate to both Starfleet and the RSE, nothing had to be fabricated, and of course, his team was taught to be the sharpest around so including updates about them was easy. Regular training sessions and intense security re-training was always in the forethought, because of course, his job was to make those he was in charge of to be and show their best work at all times.

Daise’Security Torate tr’Jeth Dabi probably would have preferred promotions from within; The dossier was forwarded from Starfleet to alert him who was approved for command of the station and his background. Normally a familiar removal of a supervisor and promotion due to certain circumstances was something he hadn’t seen for quite a long time. He missed these ‘norms.’

His backup memo went to his department heads, Lt Jg Spader and Lt Jg Harada. Between these two, he had internal station and external station covered at all times. With the ruckus that Ambassador Drankum caused on his secret arrival and exit, and with the games they had to play with the press to mislead them, he wondered if there wasn’t actually come guilt involved in having to stealth him about the station. It wasn’t something he bothered himself to think about for long; he had to keep Spader on top of those inside the station for this massive undertaking, and Harada to keep his pilots out in the fighters and on patrol.

Torate had been out of his office in the midway for many more hours than usual. He spent quite some time back at the entrance of the bar until the new Captain left for the CT, watching him, analyzing his interaction with Commander Chirakis, as well as noting Commander Brown’s attempt to get command codes switched over immediately, and the hesitancy this new guy took for such an important task. Bodies were not moved, much less cold before this was done on a Romulan ship.

Ah, Torate missed home.
