“...tonight we have some answers and a new connection that leads straight to Starfleet. We take you to reporter Regia Maldando, live on Earth, near the chambers of the Federation Council. Regia.”

 

Chirakis had tuned out most of the news lately. Hearsay, conjecture, and innuendo was not worth her time.

 

But just as she reached the door of Drankum’s Bar, a sudden hush spread through the crowd followed by gasps, comments, calls for quiet, and the chirps of various communication devices.

 

She stopped to listen.

 

“...four people at the meeting.... First Clerk Jint.... Grand Nagus.... Ferengi diplomatic representative Ambassador Drankum has announced his retirement.”

The sound of glass shattering on the barroom floor broke the silence. At the far end stood Broht, the bartender, and Drankum’s business manager, Patti Santi, her hand open, a glass missing.

 

She did not know?

 

Instead of going to her quarters, Kirel entered the lift for the fighter bay. Drakkor’s secure channels would be needed for her report to Director Torak.

I'd be concerned here with the type of shoe - steel toed for enforcement, or sneakers for covert ops.
