Le Situation

SS Hard Six

Captain Reed Mitros Commanding

Reed Mitros sat in his command chair on the bridge of the SS Hard Six. As he was located within the middle area of the bridge, all the stations and consoles and personnel were working in a state of quiet readiness.

The current situation was either going to go really well, or really bad.

Said situation involved a rather large and nasty looking Orion Dreadnought class vessel that had made itself known a few moments ago; it and the USS Comanche Creek were currently facing off, though no full contact ordnance had as of yet been exchanged between the respective ships. The Black Sheep flight squads that had been sent out on patrol likewise had their own issues with what looked like crazy pirate star fighters, but that situation also seemed to be contained…for the most part.

His tactical officer raised her voice slightly and called over to him from her bridge station. “No change Captain, and we have long range sensors going full bore.”

He nodded towards the Tellerite officer. “Just keep passive scanning. I’m sure the ‘Creek officers are scanning that big Dready as well, but it won’t hurt to have a backup-“ in case the ‘Creek is blown out of the stars, a nasty little voice added, “-scan file just in case.”

But, what it all came down was that Comanche Creek and the SS Hard Six were no match for the Orion dreadnought that his sister ship was currently squared off against. Oh sure, both Starfleet ships together might give the Cartel ship a run for it’s money, but the end result would be the same – BOOM.

For now, Reed kept his Oberth-class support ship at a slight distance, shadowing the larger Kelvin-class frigate per his orders from Calestorm…though he was fairly sure that the Orion vessel could detect the ‘Six, despite the electronic countermeasures already in play. The ultimate directives of their joint mission had been to find the perpetrators of the M5 computer failure, and re-claim any tactical computer evidence that had been transmitted from the USS Enterprise when the ship had been internally compromised by the crazy computer. Phase one had obviously been successful.

His XO, a veteran merchant mariner who also had some past experience serving in the Starfleet, had entered the bridge from the turbo lift and came up to stand quietly beside his chair. Like him, she wore a black Starfleet duty tunic indicating that they served on a civilian vessel attached to the Border Patrol FTR program.

The light skinned woman was quiet as she spoke, her tone calm as always despite the circumstances. “All departments have reported in. We’re ready to move at a moments notice if it comes to that.”

“I really hope Captain Calestorm holds her temper…”

Keats looked slightly confused at the random statement from Mitros. “I think if anything was going to happen to really blow the situation, it would’ve happened already Sir, to be honest.”

Reed sighed slightly by way of an answer. “The Comanche Creek crew – meaning, the command crew and senior officers or department heads -- as a whole have had general contact with this Litasha; a raid was executed against one of her supply warehouses. Captain Calestorm in particular is the one that had extreme hard contact with Litasha as a result of that mission.”

Keats raised a questioning eyebrow as she pushed a stray lock of hair behind a slightly pointed ear. “I read the reports on the raid…” her voice trailed off, the unspoken question plain to her commanding officer.

Mitros glanced at her and then turned his attention back to the situation on the main viewer. “This is off the record. A couple months after the raid, Litasha had some goons grab the captain off the streets of New Topeka. Over the next few hours, Cale was treated to an old fashioned knuckle shakedown before being dumped back on the streets. In my professional opinion, this Litasha is determined to make herself known as a Cartel leader across the sectors, at any cost.”

The Six’s XO mentally absorbed this information for a moment. When she finally spoke, her tone was deadpan with her next statement, but serious all the same. “…I really hope the captain holds her temper.”

“Yeah.”
