Meetings in the Dark of Night

The transporter flickered to life and Ah-Windu Corizon found himself face to with Ambassador Ori’na N’Kedre, the former envoy to Camelot Station. It had been nearly a year and half since he’d seen her face to face, and both of them found the moment a bit nostalgic.

“Welcome aboard,” he said with a smile.

“Jolan tru, Captain.”

The three security officers flanking the room glanced to Corizon for the okay, and after receiving a confirming head nod, lowered their weapons.

“Always the cautious one, na?”

“In my business, one can never be too careful.”

“Understandable.”

He sighed and glanced back towards her. “We shouldn’t stay here too long. I don’t want anything happening to you either. I know that you took a lot of risk even meeting me here.”

N’Kedre smirked slightly, taking in the canine captain. “Likely less than you’ve risked,” she said. “But like you, I am a patriot. I will do what needs done for the Empire.”

He nodded. “What do you have?”

“Joval ,” she said of the dead ambassador. “Had been looking into the reports for some time that someone was selling our weapons in the Gamma Quadrant; so far he’d not been able to find anything linking it to the usual sources.”

He nodded and she produced an isochip. “Here was all the data he gave me before he left, in case something happened to him.”

“He knew something was up?”

“Yes,” she said with a heavy sigh. “He’d recently uncovered some information that he thought could be useful, but he was worried that someone might be on to him. Just before he left he told me that he’d tracked down a trail of materials used in the production of the ie’yakk models your crew had found.”

“Oh?”

“Ie, he tracked the shipments to an old base in the neutral zone that we no longer maintain.”

“A base in the neutral zone, why am I not surprised?”

“Now now. I said we no longer maintain it.”

Corizon grinned and tucked the isochip into his pants pocket. “Well, as much as I’d like to catch up with you, I think we should be moving along then. If they know he was on to them, they may not want to stay there very long, and the longer you’re here the more suspicious it is.”

N’Kedre nodded a gave him a warm smile. “Good luck Ah-Windu.”
