35 posts in this topic

I swear to god, I am the glue that holds STSF together.  I leave for 5 days and then Vanroy loses his mind!

I like the fact that he emailed me the photo first, before I left.  If I had a couple more minutes it'd had been up here a long time ago.

Secondly...Fred you always make the power moves when Im away!  What is it....4!  4 promotions in one night!

Third...or umm....Thirdly...Atlanta sucked, I could have learned about god and spent three hundred dollars back here in good old Minnesota.  All that youth gather did was give me an intense hatred of Texas (Make me go work in the woods will ya!)

Just about the only good thing, or funny thing that happened was the fact that for about ten hours the goverement thought I was a terrorist.  See I brought my beloved Xbox with me and well....let's just say it doesnt look like and Xbox on the xray machine.

So...Kroells is back...all those who made fun of me while I was gone, shall now die!

Hate Texas???

Atlanta is no where NEAR Texas.

Comments about hating Texas are a sure fire way to incite the wrath of Ziggy....

Hey there,

Well, for some reason I have to doubt that they took it from you simply because of an xray. Along the same lines though, I'm surprised you tried to take it aboard as carry-on luggage.

Am I reading what Fred is reading here..that you placed an X-box on a carry on?  Dude..red Flag immediately.  Atlanta being a hub, they'll be far more curious..

To answer two remarks.

1:  Fred, they got susupicious because of the Xray, they took it because I made some rude comments about the airport security.

2:  Ziggy, I dont hate Texas...I just hate some of the people there.  I had to do a service project (Clean up Atlanta) with some Texans.  We went out into the woods to clean up a nature presearve that had already been visited by church groups the last three days. (Way to presearve nature Atlanta)  Any ways, us Minnesotans and them Texans went opposite ways, and when we finished first, we headed back to our buss to chill.  Needless to say, the much slower Texans began to complain and had us dragged back into the woods to help them clean.

It gets better, instead of being good christians and just helping them out, we actually slowed them down, by spending out second trip tearing down a tree...(Yea, but we actualy managed to take out a tree!) So in the end, the Texans made nasty comments to us, we to them, and then we pushed a couple of them into a patch of poison ivy.  The end.

My next instalment of my Atlanta trip, How to pimp out an elevator.

::Reads precips post:: ok 3:  St. Paul international is actually a larger airport by standards,  Atlanta has small check in and pretty much just the concourses.  If you've ever been to Atlanta you know what I mean.

St. Paul is much larger by standards...Why I dont know I dont revel in that stuff, ask Ridire/Ayers if you dont believe me.

P.S.  Xbox rules, so I'd risk taking it with me any ways, thanks for the form Fred, Now I'll probally have to wait 6-8 weeks untill my Xbox arives (LOL)  And because of this all, Star Wars:  Knights of the Old Republic remains unopened and that makes me sad.  :D

::hits buzzer:: WRONG!

Chicago O'Hare International Airport is actually the buisiest airport in the world with the most passangers and plane landings/takeoffs on a daily basis.

Atlanta International did manage to earn that title a few years back. Atlanta is a huge sucker, it's just one long terminal . . . never try to walk from one end to another, it'll take you forever. Atlanta is currently the 2nd buisiest passanger airport in the world.

Size wise though? I have no idea, I just know about how busy the airports are.

Don't ask me about freight, my knowledge only extends to passanger systems.

Oh, and on one other note... as of this Wednesday, July 30th, for one week untill August 4th, the airport of Oshkosh, Wisconsin will hold the title of the World's Buisiest Airport as the yearly fly in commences. No airport in the world matches the amount of takeoffs/landings that Oshkosh will do on a daily basis this week. I plan on being one of the persons who gets to fly on in there, nothing like it.

Yes, Garnoopy considering I flew to Atlanta I know who the terminal is shaped, my remark had nothing to do with business, just sheer size.

Ooouuu... Oshkosh. I went there two years ago - that's alot of planes. hehe. You never really get the idea of how many planes there are until you go there.

At times, they actually land 3 planes at one time (at different locations on the runway. They've got 3 different colored circles/dots on the runway, and an ATC just tells you which one to land on. :D)

Takeoffs are even more fun - you can sit in a plane for several hours on a taxiway, just waiting to takeoff. No Tower control with them... too busy (there would be too much chatter on the radio). Instead, they have guys with walkie-talkies standing at the end of the runway, holding up a sign. On one side, the sign says "GO", and on the other, it says "STOP". Heh heh... it's great to just sit and watch these airplanes land and takeoff.

The most interesting part? Oshkosh (I believe) has only had one crash through all of this (although it was a doozy of a crash).

Oh, the joys of Oshkosh. Actually, I would probably be there right now myself, but... ::points to head:: I had a little surgery/recovery to take care of. heh heh

Oh well. There's always next year! (I've got to renew my EAA membership anyway. That takes... time.)

Back on subject, Welcome Back Travis. :) I wonder how many people carry their Xbox with them in a carry-on? (Better yet, how many people actually take their Xbox with them? hehe)

I believe O'Hare is the busiest airport, followed by Atlanta, and then Dalas/Ft. Worth. (Don't hold me to that... but yes, Dalas does rank up there pretty high.) Chicago-Midway ranks up pretty high, as does Denver (yes, Denver, thanks to a new airport being built a few years ago).

Just 2 more cents from me.

And now my instalment on how to pimp out an elevator.

Me and my friends spent most of our time at the hotel riding the elevators looking for...err...atractive females to hang out with.  After a half and hour we decided that we needed to do something to improve the condition of the elevator.

So we stoped back at the fifth floor (where our room was)  and got out.  The hall way was shaped like a V or maybe and L...that kind of split any way.  What I would like to consider the lounge area of the floor, consisting of a good couch and an ashtray was located at the center of the V, or rather where it split.

We called up our elevator again, and put the couch and ashtray thing in the elevator and once again began to ride the floors, needless to say impressing the females with...err...very low standards.  Of course what comes up must come down, and it did, hard.

Our elevator had been called down to the lobby and when it opened we were face to face with a security guard.  He took our couch and lectured us on stuff I cant remember any more.

So in conclusion...Pimping out elevators=good...Pimping out elevators and having security catch you=bad.

Next chapter:  Why boxing in the hall ways is bad/how I broke my pinky finger.

It's fascinating to be in one of those little planes. As you fly in there is no radio transmissions allowed from the planes (as Hd said). All private planes get told to "rock their wings" if they understand what they have been told to do. Then, you get a colored dot and you do a 180 degree turn and land on it. Nothing like it in the world.

Taking off isn't like you've said though, they do tell you when you are cleared for takeoff and when to go. The only rule is you do not hesitate, however, in my 11 years of flying up there I've never seen a "stop" and "go" sign before. Hmm.

Yearly Oshkosh has around 1 accident. Ach, I remember last years, it wasn't a pretty one to watch. Thankfully though no one was hurt last year. I hope we can have an uneventfull year this year.

The best part of Oshkosh though is that you get to camp next to your plane right next to the runway surrounded by thousands and thousands of other planes. (Total count of planes is usually around 5,000 private planes). There is nothing like it in the world.

Hum... I do remember when I went a few years ago seeing the stop/go sign for takeoff. But, it may have just been something that was happening at the time - it was in between airshows, so everyone was wanting in and out. They had about 8 hours to get in and out before the next show, so people were rushing to do so.

The stupidest (is that a word?) guy I saw there when I went was waiting in line to takeoff. He got tired of just sitting there, so he actually got out of his plane. Now, several people got out of their planes while they were waiting - that wasn't the bad part. Smart people, however, turn off the engine when they do so. This guy just set the parking break, opened the door, and got out... the engine still running. Heh heh heh.

They may use the radio for takeoff - I wasn't completely sure about that. But, I do remember the stop/go sign... hehehe. It was at a time when they were letting planes takeoff after a fast plane landed and a slow plane was coming in... usually one or two got out, and then another 5 or 6 planes landed, one or two takeoff... the line to takeoff can easily stretch a few thousand feet.

stupidest (is that a word?)

::Dons Blu Rox suit:: I believe that the correct term would be most stupid.  But then again that doesnt sound right....aww screw it, It's time for:  Why boxing in the hallways is bad/how I broke my pinky finger.

I know some of these stories sound far fetched, espically the Xbox bomb thing, but I swear their true, I been back home for about 25 hours and Im still suffering from jet lag and lack of sleep so I dont think I could convincingly lie to a deaf person, any way!  On with the show!

19 hours prior to the elevator pimp out  My friends Jamie, and Zach we're sitting in our room watching ESPN (God bless), a boxing match was on, and I cant remember who was fighting (light weight fight so it wasnt worthy of pay per view in the first place)  Any way, around the 5th round Jamie has the smart idea that we should go boxing.  Zach turns and askes where and when...and in no time most of the group is now out in the hall ways waiting for the boxing match.

I mean while had been ordering a pizza and had just returned to the 5th floor to see utter chaos.  While Jamie and Zach were going old 30's style put up your dukes boxing, there was an other group on our floor as well, they were not only spectating the match they were also having a water fight with small squirt guns (Try to get that past security!)

I stood in the lounge area for about ten minutes, unable to go to my room because of the crowd for the fight/boxing match, and afraid to go the other way because of the water fight.

A few or so minutes latter, the match, and the crowd went further down the hall so I had an opertunity to get to the door, and have supper.

I get the key in the door and slowly enter, no one is there, which is a first, considering an other room mate, Justin had been spending the last two days trying to get some girls from Wisconsin to spend the night in our room.

Now comes about the stupidest (yes it isnt a word but who cares)  I've ever done.  The crowd was coming back and so I knew that they'd pile in here if I didnt do something fast!  Before I could think the door was slamed shut from the out side, some one not wanting to get into our room.  They must not have noticed me because my hand was on the side of the door, the part that conects with the frame.  My fore hand was against it, with my pinky lined up with the door and the frame.

When the door slamed shut I knew it was broke, and maybe when the door swung back open, and the postion my pinky was in confirmed it.  I quickly was sent packing to the hospital with one of the counsilers, and it was latter confirmed that it was broken (to my reply of no **** sherlock) It was put in a splint, the doctors not able to do much else.  And so that's how I broke my finger.  For once an injury I recived wasnt a back fire of one of my plans.

For those who care the splint comes off in about a month, which will slow my wpm a bunch...so sorry my Aegisians and Reaenters I'll be slow untill then.

Next chapter:  A party with Wisconsin chicks at 2 a.m.

I went to this thing called Youth Congress..waaaaaaaaay back in ancient times when I was in HS. Church youth groups from all over the world meeting up in Washington DC. What a scary thing. (It was).

We had an electrical box explode in our hotel the morning after we arrived... wo days before we could go back and get clothing, showers, etc. Not the best way to pick up chicks...

I met some awesome people from MN, and I am from TX, and we sent mail (yes.. write letters email, in the days before email) for years. I even considered college in MN for a time. So, not all people from MN and TX don't get along. :D

And I am here to say that while DFW may not be the busiest airport, it has to be one of the largest. Remember, it is the main hub for AA. We used to do scavenger hunts in teh airport, in HS we used to go out there just to ride around on the tram, and it was a great place to go pick up members of the opposite sex. (We always went as a mixed group.) More fun than the mall!!!

Okay... after thinking more about it, maybe it wasn't a sign that said "stop" and "go". They may have been flags that guys had at the end of the runway, waving to planes (or an ATC, or another guy with a radio)... I can't remember.

Who listens to me, anyway? :D

A few years back I bought a N64 for like $20 on ebay. I've never liked any of the gaming systems besides the N64. Why you ask? Golden Eye was on the N64 and that would have to be the one game for a gaming system that I like.
