Launch of FTR Sister Ships

New Topeka - Break out the champagne bottles ladies and gentle beings: the Starfleet First Threat Response Program is preparing to commission and formally launch two new support vessels.

The USS James Walking Bear, named in honor of a relative of program director Rear Admiral Coyote who gave his life during the attack on the Comanche Creek colony, is a Deadalus class ship that will be providing colony support. The SS Hard Six is a former Corsair-Oberth class civilian transport ship converted for patrol duties and was originally recruited under the Independent Contractor Captain (ICC) program, a sub-division of the FTR program.

Both ships and their crews will be providing support for the colonial outposts along the Federation borders as well as backup support for the lead First Threat Response vessel, the USS Comanche Creek.

The official launch of the support ships will take place from the New Topeka orbital docks. The James Walking Bear and the Hard Six will be formally escorted by an honor guard consisting of the USS Comanche Creek under the command of Captain Calestorm, and the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain Kirk.

In addition, the Enterprise will also be field testing the M5 tactical computer program, designed by Doctor Richard Daystrom and commissioned for use in the Federation Starfleet. This field test will be the second in a series of tests for the program; the USS Yorktown originally tested the new computer software and hardware prior to being lost at the Battle of Vulcan.
