We Be Eight!!

Boy, it slipped right by me, but yesterday, July 31, was STSF's Birthday!

Eight years ago, yesterday, the founding group of GMs decided to call our experiment the Star Trek™ Simulation Forum. The group was comprised of experienced Trek sim leaders who had become disillusioned with the bureaucracy that surrounding the idea of having fun, when the games were hosted in certain places (not naming names). We reached out to StarTrek.com and found them receptive to hosting us and letting us set up a forum where people can just enjoy themselves while role-playing our favorite TV show(s). We have come a long way since then (our first Academy, the USS Wesley Crusher, didn't take place for another 12 days, August 11, 2002), but I hope that people will agree that it's still fun to come here and play.

I want to personally thank all of the fantastic GMs who volunteer their valuable time to make this a great place to hang out and to our wonderful players, without whom it wouldn't be any fun at all!

Happy Belated Birthday, STSF. It slipped my mind too, I must admit. But things sure have changed since the time of my first academy as a cadet, way back in 2003, simming in the old StarTrek.com chatrooms. I'll always fondly remember all the fun times we've had over the years in the forums, my Advanced Sims, and the Academies (especially the Pandarians! Here's to many more! :P

I really, really enjoy STSF.

I just commented to someone the other day that STSF is my hobby, my outlet, my sanity booster, and my junior writer's paradise. The site is stable, I enjoy the people and the games, and the loony bird population of the 'Net is kept at bay.

Happy Birthday Star Trek Simulation Forum!!

Happy Birthday STSF. :P

Though space and time have stopped me from playing I still creep in for an acad game or a forum post from time to time and look at my regular simming days as nothing short of brilliant. I will return one day! ONE DAY!!

May STSF continue and grow for many more years.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure I belong to that loony bird population most of the time. :P

Anyway, Happy 8th to the site and warm huggles all around for a great community.
