"Quietus"

Sar'vek sat back with a smile to examine the scanners and their lack of phantom sensor readings. It was damned nice to have a few hours that didn't have some sort of enemy shooting at them, or rogue elements watching their position, or the ship falling spectacularly apart around them, or t'Rexan flying into an unstable rage and ripping apart anything in her path that displeased her. All was quiet, and Sar'vek was in a menkha mood for once.

If they could avoid finding trouble for a shift or two, she had plans for how to celebrate their break from the stresses which had recently been plaguing them. The first of which involved an ale party in her quarters -- io of the auxiliary labs would have been preferable, but given that the remains of her labs still had a tendency to vent atmosphere on occasion, that wasn't really possible. The idea of ale and cocktails put a little smile on her face. And she had so many people she could invite. There was...

Well. She could always invite io or two of her more agreeable associates in Science. And Koga. Of course she would invite Koga. He'd been so incredibly nice lately, always doing exactly what she needed to get the sensors attuned just right, and he always was so pleasant and polite. Oh ie. She would certainly invite Koga.

Busying herself by running through another pass of the sensors as she planned her little soiree, Sar'vek sighed. This peace and quiet might not have been able to last, but for the moment, the science officer was content. Even the N'Dak the Younger sitting over at the secondary science console was being quiet and not causing his usual melee. They were so close to getting home that she could almost taste it. The whole crew needed it, truly -- tensions were running high enough that if they snapped, the ship was likely to tear apart at the same time.

So why was she still apprehensive about it?

Maybe it was just the concept of going through the Bajoran wormhole. She didn't trust the thing, nor the aliens that lived in it. They were frankly irritating, frustrating, and she didn't like creatures that masqueraded as deities. If there was another way to go about getting home, she would certainly have lobbied for it, but... options were limited. It was into the wormhole with them whether she liked it or na, and if they ended up in some awful alien-created reality where they all had to survive in some primitative habitat... well, it was still better than being bottled up with t'Rexan and all of her little minions for much longer.

Satisfied that the scans weren't concealing some adversary at the edge of scanning range, Sar'vek sat back, planning on enjoying their brief respite for as long as it lasted.
