Seiben

Won't you be my neighbour?

Seiben looks out the window in the lounge, still nursing his flask filled with vodka.  It is now about 1/4 full.  Seiben is glad he's off-duty now.  There's no way he could work in his condition, but the vodka seemed to warm him up and give him a good jolt of adrenaline. Now athat's what a drink is all about, not like that synthehol crap. Seiben can't stand the stuff, but being onboard a Federation Ship, he has little choice. That vodka he's drinking now is a gift from his new friend, Dox Maturin.  Quite an intersting person, Dox is.  Seems like a nice enough person.  They first met when Dox dropped his PADD, and Seiben picked it up.  They then had an enlightened conversation where Seiben told him about his family, career path, and basic stuff like that.  Seiben is happy he made a new friend, and hopes it continues in the future.  Because of the fact Seiben's family moved alot, he never had the chance to make any real friends.  Even, Karl, Günter, Rolph and Franz. He met then when he was 16. But earlier in his childhood, he was a loner. Maybe he still is, he thinks.  But being on board the Republic for the past two months,he's felt alot more open and talkactive than he used to be.  Five years ago, Seiben would have never talked with any stranger, he was much too shy then.  Scared if he made a friend, he'd just lose contact with him when his father is assigned to another post.  Seiben sighs, and finally finshes off his drink. But other than that, Seiben has had a good childhood.  Lots of toys and love from his parents, but noone to play wth except for his sisters and a few of the other kids on board his father's ships. Ony three days more till Earth... he thinks, as he sits back on his chair, glad he met a new friend.. and ship neighbour.
