Federation - Arcturan War

Upon returning to Maturin Station - the Hub of the Federation's Black Ops fleet - the crew of Manticore learned of the assassination of Consul General Yendis by the Arcturans. Starfleet Intelligence reported that Arcturus was massing its fleet along the border and that several incursions into Federation space had occurred, though they were of no consequence.

In the light of these events, a state of war now exists between the Federation and Arcturus.

In preparation for its mission to attack and destroy an Arcturan shipyard near the Federation border, the Manticore has received a massive refit that includes additional quantum cannon, double the number of torpedo launchers, three times the number of phaser emitters, and an enhanced power plant to handle the extra power demands of these armaments. In addition, they improved the regeneration time for the hull armor nanites and beefed up the fighters - Griffin and Wyvern.

The Manticore has crossed into Arcturan space en route to the shipyard. It passed one Arcturan warship that was patrolling the border, but Manticore's cloak and silent running insured they were not detected. Still a day from their destination, they plan, monitor, and privately consider the physical, political, ethical, and moral consequences of their actions.

Manticore Mission Update for June 28, 2010

With news of the destruction of Federation geological station GS-27 by Arcturan warships and the subsequent loss of 270 men, women, and children, Manticore’s crew is more ready than ever to mount an attack on the Arcturan shipyard. Departments reviewed emergency procedures and ran drills, those in charge of weapons ran them through simulations, and, in general, all personnel are familiarizing themselves with the new configurations throughout the ship, especially our newest crewman, Ensign Alex Ramirez.

TBS was 9 hours. It is now 0700 on the day of the attack.

Manticore Mission Update for July 12, 2010

Upon arrival at the Arcturan shipyard, Manticore finds not one, but five structures in the shipyard complex and twenty starships docked, none of which looks very spaceworthy. Despite the incongruity and ensuing questions, the overwhelming memory of Arcturus attacking the Federation science facility steels the crew. We are poised to attack with two fighters - Wyvern and Griffin - deployed under cloak.

Manticore Mission Update for 8.9.2010

While zig-zagging its way towards the Federation border after destroying an Arcturan shipyard, the Manticore came upon the wreckage of a Federation starship. With the cloak back online and holding steady, we have stopped to investigate the wreckage.

Remnants of the Federation ship have been beamed aboard and positively identified as that of the USS Manticore. In the words of science officer T’Prise, “The quantum dating indicates that the debris is from the Manticore we are currently aboard. There is no difference between this ship's hull and the debris.”

In addition, biological samples found on the debris contain DNA identical to that of several Manticore crew, namely Captain Sovak, Cmdr Farrington, Cmdr Precip, Lt Cmdr Faldek, and Dr. Chalice. In the words of Captain Sovak, “So not only our ship is dead, so are we.”

With Commander Precip relieved of duty, Captain Sovak has appointed Lt Cmdr McFly Chief of Security. Main weapon arrays are back online, fully powered and ready for action. Shields are back to nominal levels and should be fully regenerated soon.

Manticore will remain near the debris until the mystery is solved or the Arcturans find us and come for revenge.

USS Manticore Mission Update - October 4, 2010

After extensive review of the evidence, it was determined that the USS Manticore and crew had somehow slipped into a parallel universe, one in which Admiral Atragon was still a captain, there existed a war between the Federation and Arcturus, and the Manticore had been destroyed with a loss of all hands in an attempt to neutralize the Arcturuian threat to the Federation.

To return to the proper time line, they located the swiftly-moving dust storm that held the portal. Using untested and dangerously unpredictable slipstream technology, they barely navigated the distance, emerging badly damaged on the other side. Sitting dead in space, Maturin Station came to them. They are presently undergoing repairs.

Strangely enough, Science Officer Ian Syndrx, who was killed in the chaos during the slipstream transfer, met the ship at Maturin Station.
